We have been loyal and frequent customers for over 20 years, starting at their first location on Wisconsin Avenue. The food is always fresh and well prepared and presented, and the service is warm and personal. My only criticism is they could use some new tables and chairs.

Was fortunate to stay near this restaurant for my son's 8th grade class trip. He has severe food allergies to dairy and nuts. They understood our situation and could accommodate my son's food allergies. Food was fresh and delicious. Very clean. Atmosphere was pleasant. Ate here every night of our trip.

I've lived in Bethesda for over 30 years and LOVE sushi, but had never been to Tako Grill until recently. It just didn't seem right that good sushi could be found in a small strip mall next to the county liquor store. Boy, was I wrong. The sushi was superb and extremely fresh. The prices were a little high, but well worth it.

We ate at this restaurant some years ago before they moved to this location and we felt it worth re-visiting especially as the reviews were generally favorable. I ordered the sushi dinner and my wife ordered the sashimi. The Miso soup was a bit too salty, and the salad was a bit wilted, although the dressing was quite good. The sushi and sashimi were good but not very exceptional. The service was very good. Overall the experience did not live up to our prior experience or our expectations, and we don't expect to return here.

Great easy going sushi in a hurry. Also dine in. Teriyaki chicken was very good also. I recommend a reservation as it gets busy

Every time we go to Tako the experience is the same--spectacularly good sushi...so fresh and beautifully presented; an array of slightly unusual but authentic Japanese grill items and appetizers and excellent service. We eat sushi several times a month and in every city we travel to. This is one of the best sushi places we've been to...high-quality, little fanfare, authentic and distinctive food, and absolutely reliable.

I absolutely loved this restaurant at its Wisconsin Avenue location both before and after its renovation, with its sake bar. It semmed very innovative when it first opened. I went there many dozens of times over the years. I did not like the Hampden Ln location as much. Where is the grilled tofu? It seemed more like a sushi restaurant now. And there were no oysters when I went. Maybe I missread the menu?
Nevertheless, please do try this restaurant and find out for yourselves!

The absolutely best sushi. You don't have to pay an arm and a leg either. A sushi assortment platter comes with 5 pieces of sushi, a California roll, miso soup, and a salad, all for $14.95 Or, go a la carte and order sushi by the piece. The sashimi appetizers are enough for a meal, 2 though. Salmon is smooth as silk. Servers are attentive. The "newer" location on Hampden Lane with parking in front makes this restaurant more accessible.

this is our favorite sushi restaurant--the owner, his wife and daughter work there--servie and waiters are wonderful amd fficient--the food is really great--been going to tako for over 15 years

Went here for dinner after reading many positive reviews and wasn't thrilled. The restaurant was not busy and I was seated right away. They offer both a sushi menu and a menu for other Japanese items. I ordered off the sushi menu and though my rolls were ok. It is reasonably priced but the service was kind of slow and I had to ask to have my drink refilled multiple times.

I'm not all that into sushi, if I'm being honest. However, I know what tastes good and Tako Grill's sushi is the best tasting fish in Bethesda. No doubt about it. I've been dragged to many a sushi place by my friends and this place always has the most fresh fish around. It is a family friendly atmosphere, not very modern or trendy, but that is not as important to me as the quality of the food.
I gave it 4 stars b/c even though the food is excellent (best Miso soup I have ever had), the decor is not anything to comment on and the service is a little spotty at times. Mostly, the service suffers when the restaurant is slammed, which is actually fairly often. It is a neighborhood gem and should be seen as such.

I ate here on a Saturday evening with my friend who is an expert in Japanese food. Got seated right away. Excellent choices, reasonable prices, and good taste. I had the soft shell crab dinner.

Still the same high quality as in their old location! Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Perhaps the best value for sushi and sashimi in the area.

This used to be my favorite place for sushi at its previous location on Wisconsin Avenue. I went to the Hampden Lane location for the first time and was actually a bit disappointed. The miso soup was watery, the salad dressing appeared to be prefab, and the tempura was much more heavily "breaded" than usual. The atmosphere in the new location was not nearly as nice as in the good old Wisconsin Avenue place, which I really miss. As the title of my review indicates, the bathrooms have improved, but that is pretty much the only thing that has. Sorry guys!
