was in Bethesda on a business trip and craving seafood. The waiter - very friendly and attentive - made this recommendation and there wasn't a drop left on my plate. Reasonably priced. Pretty much empty on a Monday night. Maybe only thing keeping me from a 5th star was atmosphere. Just seemed a little dated and kinda sad esp. with... More

The wife had the vegetable curry with tofu and I had the pad Thai chicken. We also ordered the fried calamari and the mussels as an appetizer. The mussels had seen better days.. Almost no meat in them, they're small and thin.. The soup base would have been good, a little too salty(fish sauce).. The calamari was ok compared to... More

We hadn't been to Sala Thai--a Bethesda restaurant we can walk to--for several years at which time we had found the food just ok but a lively jazz band playing exciting music. Revisited the other evening. No jazz band. Food had deteriorated in quality and the service was abysmal. I had chicken with pineapple and ginger. It was served in... More

Tried the green curry chicken and wild boar curry. Both were quite spicy, but flavorful with more than one taste. Nice bamboo shoots. The peppers and meats were good. Thyshould offer more rice with their servings. It is a chain, but this one seems like a family run restaurant with family friendly ambiance. Service good. Prices are quite reasonable. Would... More

Sala Thai has many locations and it's one of these restaurants you walk by all the time and say, we should go try one sometime! So this time with the added incentive of a groupon for the Bethesda location which I just realized has a shorter promotional life span - one month instead of the usual three - we decided... More

Ate with family in Bethesda. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but did not visit the restroom so...no comment. The food was incredible and service was great! We shared some very average spring rolls and fantastic dumplings.I wish we had ordered doubles on the dumplings. All were more than satisfied with entree choices: panang, pad thai and beef ka prow. Nice... More

You go to a restaurant, especially one featuring exotic cuisine, for 3 things: great cooking, nice ambience n pleasant service. When you get 3 out of 3, it's a 5, but 0 out of 3? Is there anyway to give them a ZERO? When you pay to have food served for a special occasion, then the establishment ruins your evening,... More

Fresh Thai dishes with all the spice you could hope for. I ate there twice on this trip to Bethesda, got one of the Chef's Special seafood dishes both times. Just plain good food at a reasonable price!

I enjoyed a dine alone early dinner at Sala Thai. All of my colleagues were gone on my last night in Bethesda and it was raining so I opted to go there as it was close to my hotel. I was pleased with the meal. The service was a bit off. My dinner arrived just as I was starting my... More

Very pleasant lunch today at Sala Thai! While they offer a nice lunch special which includes chicken satay or spring roll and an entree, I ordered Pottery Shrimp, which was fresh, plentiful and healthy. It included nine large shrimp over a pot of cellophane noodles cooked with shrimp and green vegetables. My husband enjoyed his Tom Yum Goong soup and... More
