We are not comfortable eating in restaurants that don't require proof of vaccination so we do take out. Our take out was super for New Year's Eve so for a birthday dinner my husband called and asked them to help plan a special birthday dinner...menu for takeout. The food traveled well and was excellent. During warmer weather we have enjoyed outside dining at Chef Tony's although the service was not the strong point of our evening.More

Very disappointed after reading all the reviews here. Atmosphere was awful and the food matched. Location was odd and we sat at a table next to a recc room where the light was constantly going on and off which was very distracting. Calamari was chewy...and not good. Wine which came with Valentine menu was terrible. Cream of crab soup was ok although an odd curry color and a bit spicy. Seared rockfish did taste fresh but the advertised crab accompaniment was no where to be seen. Dining companion reported that the cod was “edible.” Cheesecake dessert was not the texture of cheesecake. Chocolate cake was fine. Overall extremely disappointing after reading this was a recommended restaurant in Bethesda. I have no idea how they have repeat customers but we certainly won’t be among them.More

We enjoy the dining experience of consistently excellent food. The mussel appetizer is terrific and we order a delightful specialty different Caesar salad. For entrees we order from the different fish dishes offered which are always fresh and well prepared. It appears that Chef Tony...actively oversees all the cooking and preparations in the kitchen . For deserts they have various varieties done by Tony's wife, Chef Sonia. They also makeup decaf cappuccino which we like. We always come away from Chef Tony's feeling we have had an excellent dining experience.More

We have been going to Chef Tony's for several years and I have been neglectful in writing a review. My wife and I do not eat out often because we are good cooks and generally like our own meals better than restaurant food. Twice a...year we have been meeting my cousin and his wife at Chef Tony's in Bethesda, first on St. Elmo Street and now at the new location. We have been consistently impressed at the quality and freshness of all the food here. We all like seafood and since that is their specialty it has been the perfect place for us. More recently we have started talking the rest of our family here as well for special occasions. My grandson loves lobster so when he graduated from high school we took him and his mother to Chef Tony's and they loved it. Earlier this month his sister turned 16 so we took the whole family and everyone enjoyed a great meal. Service has always been consistent and very good. All in all a great place to eat.More

The restaurant is tucked away within the huge apartment building with no signs, no directions, difficult to find. We had reservation for early dinner for a group of five. When we finally found the place we were met by an old angry gentleman with no...greeting. There was NO customers in the restaurant yet. he takes us to the worst table basically next to the kitchen dishwashing area with all the unpleasant noises. We ask for another table and he refuses, in the empty dining room! When we decided to leave he unwillingly agrees to give us another table. Well, then things get better. Very nice waiter was apologetic for the host and provided very good service. The food itself was really good, the menu quite large, reasonable prices.More

This is an out of the way place; it's not on a main road and it's in an condo building, BUT the food is great and the service was wonderful, (a shout-out to Angela our server.) We had the grilled Caesar salad and shared that,...very good flavor. My wife had the Scottish Salmon which had a nice blend of plantain and cucumber. I went with the seafood stew an excellent blend of shrimp, scallops, crab and mussels. And the sweet potato pie for desert was the topper.More

Amazing food, wonderful service. Even if you don't eat seafood, there are options. Chef Tony really is talented. Can't wait to go back!

My husband surpised me with a lobster dinner for my birthday! What a treat! Having lived in New England for many years, we know good lobster and this dinner was superb. With friends who were visiting we had dined at a number of highly rated restaurants in the DC area. We had not been to Chef Tony's since the moved out of downtown Bethesda but were expecting good things. They are now located in a high...rise in a residential area. There are no signs indicating where the restaurant is in the neighborhood and the area is poorly lighted. Overall the food was just ok, the service poor and the ambiance basement like and very loud (over 80 decibels). The menu was rather unimaginative as well. On the positive side the baked oysters were large, tender and juicy and the Italian Seafood Paella (pasta) graced with a nice variety of seafood. Other dishes we had were just ok. The worst part was the service, which was slow and inefficient- we had to ask for water several times and our drinks arrived after our main courses. There are many more easily accessable, higher quality. and creative eateries in just in Bethesda let alone Northern Va or DC.More

We enjoyed a wonderful brunch at Chef Tony's restaurant this past Sunday. We are looking forward to the opening of the new Chef Tony's restaurant in Bethesda. Steve is a great host.

Many if not mostly hard surfaces magnify the noise with new amateur staff not anticipating needs of diners and food preparation not up to downtown standards. Hope to see improvements. The remote location may discourage experienced staff from working there.More

We have been habitual customers of Chef Tony's for years, and we miss dining there as much as in the past. But yes, Chef Tony's is well deserving of their many awards. I took a cooking class there long ago and learned some delicious tips!
