We have been eating here for the past five years but for the last three years (with the new owner) the food, the atmosphere and the staff have never disappointed! The casual and welcoming atmosphere is what greets upon entrance and the friendly staff is...what keeps us coming back.More

Atmosphere? Cozy and romantic, modern but nostalgic, perfectly laid back but also classy enough for special events! Food? Everything you want it to be from a chef and kitchen staff who clearly put care and thought into every dish. Wait staff? Arguably the best part....Fantastic crew of people. Literally we've never had one single meal (out of dozens!) we haven't loved here, nothing short of perfect service, and we send everyone here!!! The wait staff goes above and beyond to cater to customers in the most impressive and genuine way. We are particularly impressed with how they handle special needs customers and difficult clients - with respect and professionalism. A reflection of a business owner who undoubtedly cares about impeccable customer service and quality. Well done, Montsweag Farm!!! You're magic.More

We live locally and drive by this place all the time. We stopped maybe 20 years ago, opened the door and left. Heard it was better now, but I had no idea. Paige was our server, and was great with us newbies. I saw a...neighboring table had ordered onion straws. As Paige was taking our drink order she noticed and said, "they are available as an appetizer." A perfect start. I ordered the French Onion Soup and the Farmers Salad (the one with roasted squash) and he got the strip steak. All were very good. Couldn't eat it all-and were still sold on the cheesecake with an interesting topic, and it was worth every calorie.. Ups: Good vibe, nice separate bar area, service was great, food portions are HUGE (maybe that's not such an "up" but...), the salad was fabulous. Not so up: Cheese and broth on french onion soup were good, but there was too much bread. Ordered a Moscow Mule and it came with not a hint of ginger beer so I told Paige and she brought me another one - again no ginger. But I drank it and learned to like it. Probably isn't a 5, but I gave it a 5 because it is overall such a good vibe from what used to be a not so good place at all. It is nice to know we have a new go to place. Just wish they were in Bath.More

The Onion Board and French Onion Soup Appetizers were delicious and cooked to perfection. Split a Cheeseburger that was absolutely delicious. It’s not often we stop at a restaurant in the middle of the afternoon and get a hot well prepared meal, but this did...not disappoint. The Bar was lively and filled with lots of Local Color. Being from Maine, we appreciate that regulars drink and dine here. Our Bartender and Waitress Jillian, was terrific and did an amazing job at both the Bar and at our table.More

We had our small-ish wedding (~65 people) at Montsweag in September 2021, and can’t do anything but rave about how amazing our day was! Allary was so organized and helpful in the preparation, planning, and implementation of putting it all together. The staff was incredibly...nice and customer service was spot on. We had been here for meals before, and always loved the food. The buffet style for our guests did not disappoint. For weeks after our wedding day, if we bumped into family or friends, they also said how lovely and intimate the day was, how smoothly everything flowed, and that the food was delicious. Cannot recommend Montsweag enough - whether stopping in for a meal or planning an event!More

On our girl’s trip to Portland, Maine, the Montsweag Restaurant was an impulsive stop on the trip back from the Trolls at the Botanical Gardens. We had no idea we were about to have the best Clam Chowder of our lives. The chicken artichoke flatbread,...and baked haddock were also amazing. Shout out to our waitress, Paige, who made the evening a total delight with her New England charm, hospitality and wit!More

This one of our regular places. Today we went for lunch (same menu as dinner). The clam chowder is excellent. Not too thick and loaded with clams. The Nashville chicken tenders are excellent. The haddock fish sandwich is really good. Order it with onion crisps....Large portions. The only disappointment was the mac n cheese. Way too much garlic. It was kinda overpowering. You need to be prepared to wait for your food and for any other service. Like everyone, they are short-staffed and everyone is overwhelmed. But it’s worth the wait.More

We had a wonderful lunch. Rather than wait for a table, we ate at the bar. The clam chowder was delicious, and the ribs were excellent, and the fries were too. The coleslaw was not very good, and there was about a thimble full. At...this time of year I don’t understand why restaurants cheap out on cabbage???More

Thanks for your feedback. We are always working on improving things in our restaurant- we agree that our slaw needs more focus & we also could afford to lower the TVs to your liking but we prefer eye contact and want to feel what you...More

We've driven by it a hundred times; finally stopped for lunch. Service was outstanding- quick and attentive. My wife's clam chowder was perfect- full flavored but not gloppy. The "onion crisps"- wow! Best onion rings we've had anywhere. My fish and chips was the best...(of many!) I've had over many years... lightly breaded... simply perfect. If we lived nearby we'd be there once a week.More
