We were on our way back from seeing the Garden's Aglow in Boothbay and needed to find someplace for dinner. We hadn't used our Portland Dine Around very much and the year was almost over. We looked for someplace that was along the way to...West Baldwin. It had been awhile since we ate at an Italian restaurant. Casa Novello seemed to fit the bill. Wow were we pleasantly surprised. The outside was very unassuming, but inside the setup was just right for comfort but still nice for a formal date. We were immediately warmly greeted by the wonderful ladies working the tables that night. We were treated like regulars by not only our server but the hostess/manager. The server was very helpful with recommendations and didn't act rushed. Very patience and helpful. The food was great!! My wife got the Mediterranean Shrimp with Angel Hair pasta and I got the Chicken Florentine with Penne Pasta Alfredo. Both were cooked to perfection, with just the right flavoring. Both pastas were cooked just right. We will definitely recommend to our friends and family.More

Has been some time since I have visited this restaurant because I thought after the original owners it had gone down hill. A pleasent surprise! Seems Hope has brought this staple in Westbrook back to the top! I had the baked scallops and they were...wonderful! The angel hair with sauce was just right as the side and a salad served with meal is a plus because so many establishment's no longer include this. Bottom line.. if you were dissatisfied in the past, go back and see how The new owner has returned this restaurant to a must go to restaurant in Westbrook!More

My husband and I went to Casa Novello for the first time since the ownership had changed hands. We had "given up" going to eat there, due to being disappointed time and again. I am SO glad that we went back. The food was amazing!...I had the Chicken Florentine and my husband had the Chicken Marsala. The food was so delicious and the portions were HUGE!! The service, which has always been good, was terrific, as well. We will most definitely be back very soon!More

Went with a friend for wine night. I am not one for gimmick nights but my friend wanted to so I went along with it. It’s a bottle of wine with dinner for two for 50.00. I have been there before and enjoyed myself but...it had just changed hands and were having new and old staff problems. Arguments at the bar and the new owner prancing around ignoring it so it was pretty uncomfortable at the bar. The food has always been ok as it was that night but the kicker for me was the wines they offered weren’t my favorite so I asked for the Malbec instead of the ones you could choose from. They asked and said yes but there would be an additional cost,,,ok I said. Bill comes and it’s 30.00 more. So I wrote down the wines and went to Rsvp because I was pretty sure I got screwed and there was a 2$ difference in price of what they offered compared to the Malbec I ordered. That is so shady and I knew better than to enter into a gimmicky dinner which I will never do again nor ever go there again. Shady place!More

Had read a recent newspaper review lauding this place's authentic Italian cuisine. We tried the eggplant parmesan and it was humdrum. If someone else wanted to eat there, I wouldn't say no, but I would probably never choose to eat there again myself.More

My friends and I went for dinner last night. The wait staff were very attentive. The food was phenomenal! The owner came over to check on us and even delivered our second round of drinks. The desserts...omg...the limoncello cake, oh my...and the salted caramel cheesecake...woohoo...the...cappuccino mousse, holy hannah!!! Can't wait to go back.More

The fried calamari was delicious, but unfortunately it was served on fresh greens with too much dressing which got the shellfish soggy. My eggplant parmigiana was great! Very well cooked and served on a heated plate which kept it hot. My friend’s penne with pesto...was good, but the pasta wasn’t drained very well and made the dish too watery. The chicken was a bit dry and slightly over cooked. Our salads were fresh and enjoyable. Service was friendly and our waiter was familiar with the menu which was very helpful. On the whole we actually enjoyed our early dinner. We had no room for dessert, but there was a good selection of Italian favorites. We liked the atmosphere and the Italian music.More

Well, It just wasn't the wonderful Casa Novello that opened its doors some 20 years ago and held us as customers the entire time. This visit was a huge departure from those years. New owner, new staff, new menu, and new, much higher, prices. It...was busy, which made the noise level most uncomfortable. Our waiter, Chris, was not on his game, if he has one. We were seated for at least 10 minutes before he came by to take drink orders. He then came back to say the bar was busy so he would take our food order. The almost invisible smattering of weeds garnished with one slice of tomato and one slice of cucumber appeared. Really?? Only then did we finally receive some bread...3 slices for 2 of us...not 4. Really? Butter came with it and when we were nearly done with the bread, Chris then came to the table with the parmesan cheese to make the olive oil dipping sauce for the bread we had already eaten. The meals came, mine being Alfredo over Angel hair pasta because fettuccini was not a pasta choice. Really? If there was 1/4-cup of sauce I would be surprised. Very skimpy. My husband's dish he said was good, and when asked if he wanted grated cheese Chris said, "I will be right back". Well, he never returned and when mentioned to him he had forgotten, there was no reaction except " Do you still want it?" Really? As far as the new menu goes, the prices are crazy expensive now! Oh, and if you have a Dine A Round....don't bother. It is the cheapest deal in the book at 15% off one entree!!!! We saved $2.00! There are far better places to dine these days and we will be going elsewhere. Byeeee.....More

I recently went to Casa Novello after years of not being there. It is under new ownership and it did not disappoint. I got the eggplant dish which was very good. Rumor has it it is the old recipe from the village. The wait staff...was attentive. This setting was similar to when it was under different management years ago but I would recommend it as a great place for classic Italian foodMore
