Been here several times. The lobster was great as was the view, the service excellent, overall the food was plentiful and tasty, well-prepared, too. DH had the fisherman's platter which he declared very good, my lobster was delicious, the sides of fries and cole slaw...were excellent. Other sides are available but we decided to stick with the basics having been disappointed with the vegs in the past. FYI, the fries were nice and crispy, cooked to order, not grabbed from under a heat-lamp. In the past, we were disappointed with the heavy-handed use of bread crumbs on the broiled scallops, etc, The bread crumbs having absorbed all the moisture. This time I wasn't taking any chance : lobster for me! Good choice. What more can I say? ! We'll be back.More

Found this restaurant last summer and it was wonderful. First trip of the season decided to have lunch here. My husbands lobster was great. the fried food was awful! the shrimp were so tiny you could barely see them, of course there had to be...ten of them on the plate. AND i did call and ask if they were baby shrimp and the man who answered said no.... scallops were burned, clams so tiny and scorched. horrible horrible. we did send them back and were given fresher scallops and clams ( which were still tiny) but why try to serve a customer that awful food?? our waitress was great and tried to make an excuse (new cook) guess he better learn how to cook or they will definitely see a decline in customers. not coming back anytime soon.More

We have always received excellent service and food at Hobb’s. We live in the area and are there frequently for both food and drinks. Anytime we have had special requests for the kitchen we have always been accommodated promptly and courteously. We have never needed...to send food back or ask for it to be replaced and the management will always make things right if asked and takes customer satisfaction seriously. You don’t stay in business in a seasonal restaurant here on the coast if you don’t or your food doesn’t measure up.More

We had a great time.the food tasted light and fresh. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. We sat in the dining room with a great view, but the bar was having a great time as well. I recommend the lobster cakes are to die for.

We went for a birthday celebration so it was a large party but we're seated very quickly. The waitress was great, very attentive, and a great personality. Appetizers were great, loved the best battered shrimp and the coconut shrimp. I had the small North Atlantic...Haddock, it was a generous portion and so good. We will definitely be going back soon. Thanks Hobbs for great meal and a great view.More

I got the broiled scallops with rice pilaf and carrots. The scallops arrived sitting in a pool of liquid, had no color on them and looked as if they had been boiled. They were small in size and over cooked. They arrived extremely hot while...the rice and carrots were cold. My husband got the baked stuffed haddock. It was dry and stuck to the bottom of the metal serving dish. the crumb mixture on top was dry with no hint of butter. We both got the feeling that our food had been previously cooked and then re-heated; one, because it arrived so quickly and two, because of how it tasted. We will not be going back.More

One person ordered Baked Stuffed haddock and got just baked haddock. Clam chowder was mostly water. Yuk!!! I ordered the nights special, Prime Rib with baked potato and carrots. The rime rib was served cold. Yup, COLD. The carrots looked shriveled up from yesterday. Just...horrible. They did comp the haddock. I did not send the Prime Rib back, you never know what happens then, if you get my meaning. The bad part is: we live in Wells year round, and I can tell you this, my shadow will never cross their threshold again. Worst meal there ever. My grand daughter ordered Chicken cordon Bleu. It looked like a black pile of God knows what. Burnt. Good by Hobb's !!More

The amount of staff was impressive. The tree we’re giving was very welcoming. Lots of fresh seafood. I chose Baked Haddock ($27) with broccoli and coleslaw. Every bit was delicious. We were lucky to sit at a table looking over the waterway. Pretty view through...wide windows. Service was perfect. I can only imagine this place is packed solid all summer. I’d be surprised if it wasn’t.More

Nice place, on the water. Beautiful scenery and the food is great. We come here 2 or 3 times a year and travel a long ways from NH to get here.

Place is crowded and for a good reason, great food and service. They move you right along and the wait isn't bad. Have to try the Beer battered shrimp appetizer.

We received it at 4:45, and by 5 o'clock, the place was packed. I ordered a single lobster, and my husband ordered the Pan seared scallops. The seafood was fresh and served hot. The blueberry crisp was mediocre and not hot. I was not impressed...with the service.More

This is my favorite seafood restaurant in Maine. The staff is very attentive and friendly and the food is always delicious. I like the lazy lobster dinner, the calamari was great, and really good cocktails too. Loved the view of the harbor.

Exceptional food and service with the freshest seafood that you will find anywhere. We've dined here several times recently and coincidentally had Jen R. as our Server one evening and the Hostess another. Very polite , efficient and professional, jumping through hoops to accommodate. Jim...and Candy North CarolinaMore

I hate writing bad reviews but can't believe the awful experience we had at Hobbs last night. We've been coming to Hobbs since it opened, and before that when it was Lord's, going back at least 30 years now. Unfortunately, we'll never go again after...last night. We had a party of nine for our annual family reunion and were told the wait would be an hour, to an hour and a half. We were told there was only one table for nine in the restaurant (how is that even possible?) and a party had just been seated at it. Ok, so we decided to wait on the patio and enjoy a few drinks. After almost two hours, the hostess called us and said "the other party of nine just isn't moving and we have no idea how much longer they'll be. You can keep waiting for however long or we can split you into two tables that are *kind of* next together but have different servers. That's the best we can do." We reluctantly chose the two tables since it was almost 8pm and the kitchen closes at 8:30pm. After being seated, we noticed we were next to the other party of nine. Turns out it was a table for 8 with an extra chair added. And after we were seated for five minutes, and rushed to order drinks and food at the same time because the kitchen was closing soon, the other party got up and left. No one bothered to ask if we wanted to relocate to that table to sit together, and it just sat empty the rest of the night. The manager, Tracy, was awful and shouldn't be working in any type of service capacity if what we experienced is the norm. When we were seated and mentioned we weren't happy with the experience so far, Tracy actually said "I'm not sure what your problem is, we did what you asked for so I'm not sure what you want me to do." Well Tracy, you actually didn't do what we asked; we asked for a table together for all nine of us! We only took the second option after two hours of waiting and because you couldn't tell when the larger table would be open (which subsequently opened up a few minutes after we were seated). Had we known we could have waited five more minutes ti all sit together, we'd have waited. That was the problem, Tracy. Somehow though, Tracy couldn't grasp any of this and just threw up her hands and yelled "what can I do to make you happy?" How about comp us desserts or something? She said nope, the best she could do is comp us one dessert per table. Are you serious? Tracy, you're the manager. You could do better, but you were annoyed and clearly incompetent. At that point, we were so disgusted and just wanted her to go away. That was the one thing she seemed to get right, since she checked in with every other table in our section when they got their meals, and avoided ours. For one of our tables, the food came out ten minutes before the other, so we didn't even get to eat our meals together. At that point we just wanted to eat and leave as fast as possible. One of the shore dinners had a red hair perched on top of the lobster. At this point we just shrugged it off and didn't complain... it was just another insult on top of everything else. As we were leaving we walked by Tracy at the hostess table. We mentioned that there was a hair in one of the meals but we didn't bother to complain and it was overall a disappointing night. Her response? "Thanks for not complaining." Classy response, Tracy! This had to be a joke: no one in a service capacity as MANAGER would ever respond that way. She's either quite new to the role and needs serious training, or maybe a member of the owners family and not held accountable for her terrible service and attitude. Anyway, my advice is to avoid this establishment if you're looking for a nice, quiet, relaxing experience and or if you want to feel like a valued customer. You won't get that at Hobbs. And it wasn't worth the $600+ bill, that's for sureMore
