Great wine and award winning gin with an option to stay for a glass of wine or cocktail afterward. Grounds and facility is well kept and easily accessible.

Keith and Constance have created a very special Winery and Distillery in the beautiful hills of Union Maine. Our personal favorite is The Back River Gin which we buy a case at a time because once our visiting friends have tried it, that is always their request when we come to visit them and ask would you like us to... The farm is beautiful with easy assess and parking. The tasting is reasonably priced and offers an unusual variety. Personally, I go for the fabulous rum, incredible vodka, gin and bitters. My companions were impressed with the wines. I understand that within the next few years they will have whiskey. They also have a store in Portland. Will go often... More

It takes a little finding but it is worth the effort. The winery has expanded since I was there last and there is an attractive tasting and sales room. There is a small charge for the tasting but it is well worth it. The Maple Smash and the Apple Brandy are noteworthy. They also offer a vanilla extract that is... More

First, I feel obligated to say that I live two miles from Sweetgrass; Keith and Constance are friends and our daughters attended school together. However, Back River Gin is truly exceptional - literally one of the best in the world. I was never a gin drinker but I keep a bottle of Back River in the freezer at all times.... More

We stumbled across this distillery on 324 Fore Street in Portland Maine. I think it is fairly new and we decided to try the Gin. It was so flavorful with fruit overtones and crisp and a lot of other flavors you can't really put your finger on. This gin is great with tonic and lime but equally delicious just poured... More

Go do a tasting, beautiful small set up and the gin and home made "smashes" are exceptional. Beautiful place.

We visited Sweetgrass for their "after 5 tour". Our group expected the "normal" private tasting experience, that is, a cheese and chocolate plate paired with appropriate wines. This was anything but that. We arrived at 6 and were greeted by Constance and Keith. We were given a tasting of our choice of their blueberry wines. We then began our tour... More

We visit Sweetgrass to refurbish our supply of wines and liquors. There are so many good products, not sure which ones to mention. My favorite is probably Three Crow Rum, however, their gin is excellent as are their wines. I enjoy their smoked blueberry and their cranberry smash. For a small fee, you can sample a variety of wines and... More

Wine tasting quite reasonable *and each taster gets to keep the wine glass). I've purchased several wines but haven't purchased any of their renowned spirits or vanilla. A good place to visit.
