Several times a year I create a dinner party using products exclusively from with 25 miles of my home. Martinis star the Back River Gin along with their Vermouth. The featured wine is a Blueberry Cabernet Sauvignon. Local guests are aware of our local options. Summer guests never guess that their drinks are locally produced. I try to take them... More

Our second trip to this winery. Today there were many local vendors which was a lot of fun. We met a nice couple who informed us about the Water buffalo herd and how they run their business. We bought their cheese which is delicious, bought the best Fruitcake from the Transfiguration Hermitage, and great homemade chocolate. A great place to... More

I can't say that I came to Maine expecting amazing gin, but that is exactly what I got. The best gin I have ever had in my life, and the regret that I did not bring more home (because shipping liquor is one of those things you can't do easily across state lines...). I'm a bit of a purist, so... More

My wife and I toured 4 wineries yesterday in Union, Owls Head and Lincolnville, ME. We did tastings at each and bought at least one bottle of wine at each. This one was by far, the best. Best wines, best spirits, best variety. Located off the beaten track, but well worth it. Smaller facility than others, more production, less display.... More

Located way off the road (but not really that far off of Rt 17) it feels like it is in the middle of nowhere (which actually it is). It is at the top of a hill with a beautiful vista where you can enjoy a drink outside in a comfortable chair and gaze out over the fields. They offer drinks... More

We have been to the distillery a couple of times and I also work in Portland where they have a store. My wife and I really enjoy the Back River Gin (original) and the Cranberry Gin. We have given it as gifts too which is fun to share as a Maine Made treat. Highly recommend it!

Great wine and award winning gin with an option to stay for a glass of wine or cocktail afterward. Grounds and facility is well kept and easily accessible.

Keith and Constance have created a very special Winery and Distillery in the beautiful hills of Union Maine. Our personal favorite is The Back River Gin which we buy a case at a time because once our visiting friends have tried it, that is always their request when we come to visit them and ask would you like us to... The farm is beautiful with easy assess and parking. The tasting is reasonably priced and offers an unusual variety. Personally, I go for the fabulous rum, incredible vodka, gin and bitters. My companions were impressed with the wines. I understand that within the next few years they will have whiskey. They also have a store in Portland. Will go often... More
