Friend and I ordered fried scallops. They were not good…aftertaste of ammonia. Reported it to manager. She said she tried them in the kitchen and told us they were fine. She was INCREDIBLY rude to us. She would not listen to what we had to...say. She left and came back and continued to be rude. I have never been treated like this. My friend looked up spoiled scallops, and the article said they taste of pneumonia. This is the second AND LAST MEAL that I will ever have at the Upper Deck. I am so disgusted by the food and very disgusted at the behavior of the manager.More

Colorful fun bar, plastic cups, generous pour from the bartenders who also entertain hilariously. Local color and oh so fun!

My wife and I dined there in early October - there was a wait to be seated and an even longer wait to be served (we seemed to be ignored). Service was very poor overall, so we did not leave a tip when paying by...credit card. But the staff decided to add their own tip to our bill that was charged to my credit card account. The restaurant has ignored our messages since our visit. We certainly won't be going back - our advice: enjoy the view briefly, then find somewhere else with better service!More

I have received no messages from you (and we don't need to "steal" any tips~we all do quite fine without yours, thank you). We have been closed for the season for several weeks now, so if you're leaving a message on the phone, we are...More

Almost didn’t stop in because of the 3 1/2 star rating. But it was close to our BNB on Bass Harbor and we weren’t up for a longer drive. Glad we did. Food was really good. Great burger. Great stuffed haddock. And two of us...got the chicken parm and we didn’t expect much given it’s a seafood place but it was really good too. I’d def come again.More

This eatery at the head of the harbor in Southwest Harbor has been here as long as I can remember. It's atop the hill overlooking The Great Harbor Marina. You'll see a variety of watercraft from working lobster boats to enormous sleek yachts and sailing...yachts, some made at Hickley's in Manset just around the corner. Good variety, fresh lobster.More

While driving around Acadia one day, we stopped at The Upper Deck and sat at the bar. The view is amazing, looking straight out at the bay and boats. We had drinks and an app of fried lobster pieces and they all were yummy. We...sat next to some local lobstermen who were related to the female bartender and that made for some interesting conversation. Overall, a very enjoyable and entertaining stop.More

Linguine with white clam sauce! The best scallops in sherry butter ever! Chowdah! Fun view of the harbor. We ate there twice in 3 days.

I was so disappointed with my dinner choice tonight. 😩 The baked haddock with supposedly seafood stuffing was very dry, and I doubt there was any seafood in the stuffing. I had to ask our server for melted butter. It didn't help... It was barely...edible.More

Our family of 7 stopped at The Upper Deck for lunch after our boat tour ended at 12:00. They weren't busy yet when we arrived, but our waitress was slow and not very attentive. The food was good. Would rate the food 4 stars but...the service 2 stars, hence the 3 star rating.More

Well...I found the deck view nice. Drinks good. Nice place to stop. However, we ordered the clams...wrong call. Cold. Chewy. And not a good clam experience. They did offer to redo the clams...which was nice...but not thinking it would matter. Not a total dis on...place as the deck is nice and maybe some other food would have been betterMore

Very nice experience. We were greeted upon entering, got right in, seated at a quiet table, waiter was efficient and pleasant. Got a couple of burgers and drinks—all well prepared, good value. Enjoyed our visit, would dine there again.

We were vacationing with teens who hadn't eaten much ME seafood. We picked this eatery for its cheery exterior and are we glad we did. There is parking at the restaurant and also space across the road. The bathrooms are in a separate part of...the building and were very clean. We had the choice of indoor or deck dining. It was a glorious day so we chose to eat outside. The view of the harbor was fantastic. We were promptly seated and attentively served. The waitress was friendly and good natured. We ordered a variety of seafood and shared the experience. The prices were average for the area which I didn't mind as I think this was the best dining experience we had in Maine. Keep up the good work!More

My wife and I were passing through Southwest Harbor on the way to Bass Harbor, and without doing any research we decided to stop for lunch at The Upper Deck. I wish we hadn't. I'll give The Upper Deck 2 stars because I know the...waitresses tried, but they couldn't make up for the long wait for terrible food and the terrible view. I didn't start a stopwatch, but I estimate that we waited at least 15 minutes for our drinks, and another 30 minutes for our food. My wife ordered the chicken wrap, and I ordered the cheeseburger, which was supposedly rated as one of the best on MDI. My wife's wrap and my burger were totally tasteless, and the fries were stale. To top it all off, the upper deck has a view of a parking lot with dumpsters which happened to get picked up and emptied while we were waiting for our food. Talk about ambiance!More

We called in the morning about a party of 13 where we were told we could be seated walked in but could not do reservations. Upon arrival a very rude older blonde lady refused to seat us (even after understanding & agreeing to be seated...separately). She said that she had a large party come in prior who left them a bad review & would not take anymore large parties because of that. We are from out of state & majority work in the restaurant service industry & were completely taken back by this. Would not recommend.More

We visited for a late lunch midweek the week of July 18th. We were all in the mood for fried seafood plates, only to be informed by our waitress that neither scallops nor clams were available. We were very surprised they were out of staple...selections for a seafood restaurant even before supper began, given how busy the restaurant looked when we drove by every evening of our visit. The shrimp and haddock plates we did end up ordering were well prepared and tasty. The service was good when the waitress took our food and drink orders, but after the food arrived no one came by for at least a half hour. We had to flag down a different waitress to ask for our check and for boxes for our leftovers. We were surprised and a little disappointed again when our waitress returned to apologize and let us know they had only aluminum foil to wrap the food in.More
