Hi there, Yes, the service can be slow when we are one of 2 restaurants in town that are open, and lines are out the door...so the ratio of limited staff to endless guests can be a bit overwhelming. So happy you enjoyed the food...More

In September, this establishment was short of staff. Those that were there, the receptionist and the waiter ,lacked any appreciation that we were patronizing the eatery. The food was fine and the view was very good just the staff was poor.More

Hi there By September, our wonderful staff had been run over by a freight train! Many thousands of people through the door, non stop, since the beginning of June. The entire Island has been short of staff all summer; forcing many establishments to close, but...More

I'd love to be able to review the experience of actually eating here, but unfortunately I can't do that. Instead, this is a review regarding lack of communication of current hours. We visited Southwest Harbor the last week of September (9/25 - 9/30), and The...Upper Deck was HIGH on my list of places I was excited to try! I checked their website and Facebook for their hours and it seemed we were pretty safe to try them any time. Unfortunately, we were met with nothing but a CLOSED sign on the door every single time we tried to stop that week. And every time was within their advertised open hours. I do fully understand that it's an odd time right now, between staff shortages, Covid, and end of season for the area. But it's important to keep up with posting current hours somewhere... either Facebook, website, or even a sign on the door stating when you anticipate being open again. The only time we happened to see it open that week was Thursday evening, and by then we were so frustrated with it we drove right by and went to the trusty place that had been open for us all week. In short, be sure to CALL FIRST if you have your heart set on eating here and it's toward end of season. They certainly weren't the only place with sporadic hours this week, but the others were keeping folks posted on their Facebook pages, which made it easier to plan.More

Our Ski Club group of 26 had a wonderful Lobster dinner at the Upper Deck. Debbie arranged for us to have a private room and the Lobster and Clams were excellent. Served Hot to everyone at the same time! The staff was also great! Very...attentive and available! Some of our group referred to the Clams as the best they had ever tasted! This says a lot because 90% of the group are from Cape Cod. Thanks again Debbie and Staff for a Great time!More

We went with friends for an early dinner / late lunch. The hostess was unwelcoming and seemed like it was a bother to get out of her seat to find us a table. My husband and I both ordered the haddock sandwich, with a small...salad instead of fries. The haddock was very thin, coated and fried - tasteless! I'm surprised by all the high reviews of this place...maybe people just getting drinks and enjoying the view?More

We are on vacation in Maine so I had to try the lobster. And I went all in for the local experience at the Upper deck. No idea how should a lobster taste since it was my first one, but mine was though like rubber...and with not much taste. My husband had a burger that had no flavor. Both of us had fries that had very little to do with potatoes and we ate them out of desperation. The bathroom, floor, cleanliness...have a local flavor...meaning it was really bad. I am giving it one star for the view.More

The Upper Deck is located right on highway 102 at Southwest Harbor. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available. We chose the outside seating, which overlooks Southwest Harbor. One can view boats of all kinds, moored and going in and out of the harbor. The...weather was excellent for outside dining. We had only a short wait, and had the drink order taken promptly. We chose the Taco salad. It was delicious, yet sans beans. These were replaced by jalapenos, which provided the flavor. The waitress was very attentive and provided drink refills as needed. We enjoyed the meal atmosphere very much.More

I consider myself a bit of a world traveler and also know my way around cocktails and beer! This place is amazing, I loved the service and the bartender Carla is a hoot!! We ended up going there almost 4 days in a row for...the cocktails and food. It’s just a great atmosphere! A mix of locals and tourists, but the vibe is nice and low key. A couple of the evenings we were entertained by great musicians, even the chef/owner put on a show for us as well. You couldn’t pay me enough to go have drinks in the BarHarbor area, it’s a mad house over there!!! So Thank you to everyone who made our vacation even better! We will definitely be back gain!More

have family who live in S.W.Harbor so we go quite a bit. Had the chowder which was ok,now we know plain chowder and creamy chowder and so this one which is nether oh yes they do have one Manhatten chowder who puts tomatos in a...clam chowder.not in new England anyway. But the chowder here did have clams which is a plus. Service was a bit slower than before but we understand that Covid has kept a lot of workers away and so it is not the fault of the restaurants as they do the best they can. The food was good as stated and many great places have now been put into a position with low kitchen staff to turn out food that might just be a bit less than what it was before Covid. So yes,go here, get a good meal and expect to wait a bit longer than normal..If you are on vacation just relax and have a good time. If you are a local than you know what these places are going thru and help them by supporting them. My lobster was good and my service was good. I am sure once the Covid thing is over they will all be back to being Great.More

A tourist trap at its worst! The calamari was barely warm and mushy, Clam Chowder - a tasteless stew made with skim milk. Mojito was red-colored, no mint, no lime juice, and no rum. When I ask the waiter if this is really mojito, he...answers affirmative, but he was 17 at best, so he had no idea of what Mohito should be like. Don't go!More
