Such a good dining experience. I arrived solo for dinner, and was warmly greeted and shown to my table. They gave me a tasting of an excellent Portuguese wine they were featuring that night, and I ordered a glass, and then another during the meal....Also, they brought a smoked salmon pate to enjoy as a starter. My salad was local beets, lightly dressed lettuces and feta. I ordered the organic roast chicken, which was served with local roasted potatoes and red cabbage. The chicken was simple, not overcooked and delicious. I followed up with the raspberry sorbet, which is house made and simply the best sorbet ever; like eating fresh raspberries from the canes in the field. I appreciated the excellent table linens, healthy, clean food and attentive service, It all added up to an exceptional dining experience. Also, of note, the decoration in the restaurant featured great original paintings of MDI by local artist R. Scott Baltz.More

We have eaten here many times and as usual last night was a delight. Our favorite place to eat out on MDI.

Five of us arrived without a reservation as the restaurant we intended to go to for our daughter's birthday was unexpectedly closed. We were greeted warmly and they found a table for us. The atmosphere was a great blend of linen covered table cloths where...you were comfortable wearing jeans and a plaid shirt. The menu provided us with a good variety of choices, and a very nice wine list. Food was well prepared and tasty, and service attentive and pleasant. We knew that our table was reserved but rather than remind us of the time, they quietly made up two tables for that party when the time came as we spent a little too much time enjoying ourselves. I could not be happier with our experience.More

it has been an embarrassing experience: the mussel we ate... where nearly invisible, never have I have been served such a horrible serving, how did they even dare! the other servings where barely average but the worst thing was the ripoff bill for this unsatisfactory...dinner that literally spoiled our whole evening, we didn't even drink alcohol so the bill was a slap in the face and totally non proportional to this disappointing food. The only good thing was the service: two very professional and kind young people doing their job in a fine way. Never will we ever go even near this ripoff place....More

This was our third visit to red sky. It's one of my favorite in the Acadia area. My wife and I both had a salad with blue cheese and raspberries, it was very good. We both had a pinot noir from Oregon, it was excellent....My wife had the cod and she loved it. I had the duck. It was tasty, but it had a lot of gristle . They were a little cheap on the potatoes . For $42, I expected a little better. The blueberry pie was great. It's not a cheap meal, but we will go back next time we are in the area. I will try something different, the ribs looked good.More

What a wonderful evening we had at Red Sky. Although our reservation was for inside, it was a beautiful evening so we asked for an outside table instead, which the hostess graciously accommodated. It was the perfect setting to enjoy a relaxed evening with friends,...and the food was exceptional - one of our party described his entree as « the best ribs he ever had. » A truly memorable evening; we will absolutely go back and highly recommend as a destination.More

My lobster/risotto and her cod dinner were exceptional in every aspect. The chef at this place is very talented. It’s a casual fine dining experience, comfortable and not pretentious, pricey but not extravagant. Solid wine list. Attentive service. Both times we’ve been here we thought...it was one of the best restaurants on MDI.More

We were 6 at table on a lovely summer’s evening at the bottom tip of Mount Desert Island in the center of the yachting world. Almost all the family with nobody enjoying any strong drink as is now the way. Still, warm service on a...busy night and an attractive full menu. Starters taken included Mussels, Panzanilla Salad and Maine Shrimp with Ginger. Main courses were all Crab Cakes and 1 Pasta. Everything came at a pace and servers were friendly and very helpful. Its August and the season slows down for a bit but September and October are glorious on MDI. Desserts included Crème Brûlée and a Mixed Berry Tart. This is a good place and a bit expensive. It should be and tastes it.More

This was the second meal that was very disappointing at this restaurant. The pasta dish was awful. Limp and over cooked pasta and thin soupy bolognese. For desert we were offered a three berry pie - a special for that evening. This is Maine so...we expected a pie made with of fresh in season berries. We got a pop tart with an uncooked crust that was impossible to cut. It will be a long time before I ever eat there again. If ever. I wish I had not been so nice and stayed silent in the moment.More

Four years ago on a 30th anniversary trip I gave Red Sky 4 stars but on our return this year it's up to 5 easily. I love the space: cozy, elegant, great lighting and great local art on the walls. This is not a very...large place, though it was very busy when we were there on a Thursday night. Our server admitted the kitchen was behind and so encouraged pacing things out, which was OK since it was our last night on MDI and we were in no hurry. But the cocktails and all else that followed were wonderful. The snack of crispy toast and a spread were nice. The bread basket also great. The Corn Chowder was amazing as was a salad that included apples. My wife's tagliatelle dish was great and I once again (turns out based on looking back on my review from 2019) had the lobster risotto. And it was great. Lots of great lobster in the tender rice, sauteed with butter and sherry, and a whole lobster tail split to boot. All was delicious. Our server was great, too, and when my wife noted the wonderful blue bottles that some kind of sparkling water came in and said she'd love to take one home, our server made sure that happened! Very kind and hospitable. Highly recommended.More

After several classmates praised their dining experience at this Acadia area eatery, I had to take my family to try it for myself. In a word, it was terrific. The menu is unique, the offerings local & well thought out, and the staff friendly. One...of our servers even made sure I got the dregs of my unfiltered cider. Elizabeth & Jim have created something truly remarkable. The drinks and fresh appetizers (polenta) were just what we needed after a day of travel & Kayaking. Since I could not make up my mind between the duck, lamb & beef dishes, I ended up ordering the pasta with all three meats! Like a paella de carne! My brother's lobster risotto was first rate and my sister's cod was accompanied by steak fries. which with his "boarding house reach," my brother purloined several. For dessert, my sister's mint chocolate chip ice cream had nice chunks of chocolate & the mint was exceptionally flavorful. My brother's home-made strawberry ice cream had whole strawberries in it. I got the bourbon infused vanilla, the strawberry & the dark, hot chocolate pudding that knocked my socks off! This is a "must try" restaurant if you are ever in the area of Acadia National Park. Red Sky Restaurant is the bomb!More

As a party of eight, we were seated outside in the private dining area, and we had the place all to ourselves! The servers were quick and efficient, making suggestions and very able to handle all the silliness and bad jokes we could dish out....The food was excellent, the drinks substantial, and the atmosphere, while chilly at first, was quickly warmed by the outdoor heaters that our hosts fired up. It was a wonderful evening, and this place is to be commended for their hospitality and delicious offerings.More

We had a very good experience at Red Sky. If you are looking for an in & out dinner so you can get back to your hotel to watch TV, this is not the place for you. We enjoyed a leisurely meal with a very...nice bottle of wine and excellent food. Yes it took two hours, just what we were looking for. Really enjoyed the tagliatelle pasta dish. If you are looking for a break from the more casual meals in the MDI area, this is the place.More
