We expect professional cooks or chef working our food for $25 or more entrees at a restaurant. It looked & tasted to us like high school help cooked our dinners. The spinach-garlic ravioli dish we were served had so much powdered garlic in it the...food was literally gritty. The fries we got with another dish were home style type (like someone would make in a pan in their own stove) & were over cooked. The soup was bland bland. We’ve been here a couple times in past years so it’s disappointing to see who was working the kitchen & moreover, the poor quality food we were served. There’s not many choices in Skowhegan nowadays & now there’s one less for us with the state of things here.More

Service was great! I ordered steak tips with garlic mashed but they were out so I subbed a baked potato. No vegetables , Salad, or rolls came with the meal. Steak was ordered medium but was well done but I did not complain as we...had miles to go. My wife ordered a burger which was good and a cup of coffee. She had a refill on the coffee. The bill came and she was charged 2.75 plus 2.75 for the refill. Ouch! My tips were priced on the menu at 23.00 but the bill was for 26.00. Again I did not complain. Have been here several times in the past but am now turned off from returning.More

I'm not sure the owners would appreciate what happened tonight or how I was treated on the phone while trying to order takeout. I will send them a direct message about this but I will say I have been there when the owners are there...and was happy with the service and food.More

The food and beverages were tasty and the water view was great. It’s a hidden gem. In fact, we couldn’t find it when our GPS was saying we were 50-feet from it. I’m glad we found it because it was a great meal.

I just had a top-shelf spicy jalapeno margarita at the bar because regrettably I had just eaten lunch at the pizza place around the corner (but that's another review). The actual pub itself is smaller than I thought it would be, but there's a good-sized...upstairs dining room. It's hard to get a table on the narrow deck overlooking the river and falls, especially on a nice Saturday at noon! The menu looked great, and their desserts and breads are made by the outstanding local bakery the Bankery. The historic building is one of the nicest in town. I'll definitely stop in again for a meal when and if I ever get back to Skowhegan.More

The Fiesta Chicken was tasty but lukewarm on arrival. My husband's Fish and Chips arrived with cold french fries and the fish was greasy. When the waitress was informed the response was "Sorry about that" and that was it. Even though they do takeout, there...was no offer of hot fries to go or any other compensation like dessert or discount on bill. He had a short drink at the bar and ordered another the same once we were seated and was brought a Tall drink instead. An expensive meal and very dissatisfied.More

My husband and I arrived close to 1630 for an early dinner. We were seated quickly by a very sweet and accommodating smiling Hostess, Amber. Our Server, Sarah D was attentive, and kind. I enjoyed a lime and coconut Margarita (YUM!) and started off with...the crab wantons (6 large). The place was starting to fill up- (Friday after work crowd?) So the servers were busy! But this didn’t delay Sarah one bit. My husband ordered the haddock with baked potato and cleaned his plate. I ordered the Buffalo chicken salad. Huge portion with the extra bleu cheese I requested. I literally was able to only eat about one third- delicious but i was full. If we’re ever in the area again - we will definitely return ! 🥂 🙏More

I have tried getting a take out meal for one person since the beginning of August and no matter what time of operating hours I am told the same exact thing “the kitchen is at capacity” then my family of four go the at 7pn...and walk right in. Just say no take outs at this time don’t mislead customers.More

We are from Boston, spending the month of July on a lake near Skowhegan. We have discovered several restaurant "jewels" and The Old Mill stands out. It could hold its own against any restaurant in its niche (pub/American cuisine) in Boston. There is simply nothing...negative to write about it. The restaurant checks all of the boxes for us: scrumptious food at reasonable prices; extensive menu (it is impossible to not find a delectible food choice, even with finicky eaters like children); prompt, attentive, professional staff; pleasing ambiance and a photograpic vista. The place was very busy, which added to its vibrancy; nevertheless our server was never too hassled to not be attentive. During our visit we've gotten to know the owners, the Dore family, who are marvelous, gracious, welcoming and generous. We went to the restaurant with that frame of reference and were not disappointed. Kudos! We would go out of our way to visit this eating establishment, although a four-hour drive from Boston is probably a bit of a stretch. Who knows? The Green family, Wellesley, MAMore

Small town big flavor! Taking a Covid 19 road trip in central Maine stumbled upon the Old Mill Pub. To my delight, I have to say, I have had a lot of wings from chain to local restaurants. The wings at Old Mill Pub are...definitely some of the best! It is hard to share when you really enjoy something and that is how I felt with the maple chipotle wings! The chili was also home made and very good. If you are in Maine or traveling through Skowhegan Maine on your way north, east or west it is worth a quick stop at Old Mill Pun!More

Nice Location, friendly staff and the food is tasty too. Recently stopped in for a late lunch with a co-worker who had been to the Old Mill Pub a few years ago. Cool old building with great views of the river. He had a panini...sandwich with fries, I had the fish tacos. Large portions! Would certainly return again if in the area.More
