Camping in Old Orchard during the weekend of May 14th-16th, 2021 and we’re looking for a place nearby to get ice cream from. Our favorites are “Fielders Choice” in Old Orchard and “Bayley’s” in Scarborough but we decided to go here instead. There were three people (counting me) in our group. Only One of them had gotten ice cream here before. Ice cream is served through a window outside so you didn’t need to be worried about COVID, designated entrance and exit for social distancing, tape to stand on to social distance while waiting in line, and employees are masked and gloved. Many interesting flavors to choose from. I got “Fluffenuter” and it was really good. It tasted like an actual Fluffenuter sandwich!. Location is fantastic! You can see Funtown from the picnic tables and The Eastern Trail, Dunegrass, our campground, Old Orchard and Scarborough are only a couple miles away. Great place to stop for ice cream to cool off after a bike ride, practice on the mini golf course before heading to Dunegrass, and a great place to go for ice cream and/or mini golf after a long day at Funtown. I hope to come back this summer for more ice cream and maybe even play some mini golf.

Before Covid 19, you could enjoy your Ice Cream inside, where there are tables and a Juke Box that features hits from the 60's. Their Ice Cream is to die for; very creamy, great taste and lots to choose from. We are campers and always bring home some of their containers of our favorite flavors. Also, they make their own Waffle Cones; best we ever had from Maine to California.

We have been lucky enough to enjoy their high quality absolutely DELICIOUS HOMEMADE ICE CREAM for 30 years. The owners could not be nicer people. We are thrilled to see them extending the miniature golf and adding more seating with umbrellas. I recommend their Purple Cookie, Butter Pecan and Chocolate Raspberry Delight. All hail Martel's!

Finally made it to Martel's this season, and had been looking forward to going as they had a very delayed opening due to COVID-19. I have been going here for years, and always got their frozen yogurt flavors as I'm unable to have regular ice cream. I was so disappointed to learn they didn't have any frozen yogurt flavors this season. I asked why and was told that they weren't big sellers. I understand as businesses have to appeal to the masses, especially this year. I'm hoping they'll bring back the frozen yogurt flavors at some point. But for now, I'll go elsewhere since there are very limited options for me here.

I got a pint of their coffee ice cream to go. I liked the ice cream but am not crazy about their prices. The pint is more than those at other nearby ice cream places ($8 with tax), which is no big deal, but Martel's also offers quarts and half-gallons for a few more dollars more. I was told that it's more 'economical' to buy a half-gallon, but I don't want that much ice cream. Plus, the pints are hand-packed, while the quarts and half-gallons are frozen. It reminds me of the price scale at theaters, where a small bag of popcorn is very high, but for a few dollars more, you can get a gigantic one. Customers aren't that naive.

My stop at Martel’s Ice Cream was designed as a quick fix to solve a screaming child and it resulted in a tasty experience. The ice cream selection was tremendous with so many options. The portions were very generous and very high quality. The service was polite and quick.
I look forward to returning and trying the mini golf, which looked very impressive.

We stopped for ice cream after playing miniature golf; the golf course is in immaculate condition! There is a wide variety of home made ice creams. My wife and I had some low fat ice creams and it was some of the best I've ever had.

Very good ice cream - but expensive. Had a sundae- decent portion size but for a cone and a sundae it was over $12- it was a better deal to buy the gallon of ice cream.

Went twice during the holiday weekend! Both times I got a kiddie sized, which was more than enough for me.
Martel's has many original flavors and a great variety. And for those who can't/choose not to eat ice cream they have other options, but the flavors are more limited. They have sherbet, frozen yogurt, sugar free flavors, and a non-dairy coconut based treat. I've only had the frozen yogurt (the purple cookie fro-yo is my fav), so I don't know how the other options match up. But there is definitely something for everyone.
They also have a little restaurant attached that serves various forms of Italians at very reasonable prices. (For those of you unfamiliar, Italians are a type of sub sandwich that is popular with Mainers). They also sell homemade fudge too. And to wash it all down, you can buy a bottle of water for less than a buck. Pretty unheard of in this area so it's a great deal.
Definitely worth a stop in if you're in the area.

A sign outside beckons you to eat ice cream and play mini-golf, so what's not to like? The ice cream was very good and the flavor variety interesting and tempting. Good place to stop if you want a quick cone or dish.

I didn't expect much from an ice cream place that's part of a miniature golf course, but a friend recommended it. I got my usual 'test-kitchen' flavors, the chocolate and coffee, and they were very good -- nice flavor, creamy. The seating on the front porch is a nice touch.
