We visit Vic & Whit's whenever we visit our old hometown, Saco. Always feels good to be back and love the store's rustic, warm surroundings. Lovely wine selection. Food and prices are tasty and reasonable.

Although I didn't eat here, I looked at the vast selection of craft beer and wine and was quite impressed. I'll definitely return when they have a wine and/or beer tasting session. The place also has a historic and charming ambience -- lots of warm...wood, old brick, and nicely decorated. It's a nice little gem (yes, I know that word is overused lately, but it's very appropriate in this case) in quaint downtown Saco.More
I visited to try a sandwich after hearing they were really good. I was very impressed with the size and quality, pricing was also really good. I'll be back! They also have a good wine and beer selection.
My wife and stopped in for a sandwich. Not busy yet quite slow (& we were not at all expecting fast food). Little ice for iced tea. We split a steak & cheese and an Italian sandwich. Steak & cheese was tasty though small and...priced over $8. Italian was Genoa and provolone "with all the fixings" came out with mostly onions and very limited olives and peppers. It's was priced in the range of $7.25-$7.50 if memory serves. The value was suboptimal to say the least. It was unfortunate because the steak & cheese was delicious and was the high point of the lunch. The beer selection is absolutely amazing. There are numerous craft brews -- Banded Horn, Rising Tide, Maine Brewing Co, and many others. We recommend shopping for beer and getting food elsewhere.More
A sandwich shop with limited seating. Most people order for take out. Fresh ingredients and wonderful bread. Good selection of craft beers and sodas. Limited wine selection. Beer and wine bought cannot be drunk in store--for take out only. Do have wine tastings.
This place makes great sandwiches, I have only had take out there, service was friendly and fast. They have a good selection of wine there.
We stopped in for coffee and tea and were pleased. Owner was there and was very engaging. Good food and a solid selection of beer and wine with knowledgeable staff to discuss made for a nice stop in downtown Saco.
Stopped in on the recommendation of a local art shop down the block because we needed a quick bite for lunch before heading to a walking trail. Nice little place with some simple soups/sandwiches. Nothing fancy!
Combine a sandwich store with fine wines and Craft Ales and you have Vic and Whit's. We often walk here from our home to take advantage of the frequent wine tasting events (Look on the street for a sign) and are never disappointed! Wonderful service,...knowledgable wine pourers, and great selection makes this a fun store to peruse. If you're in Saco, make sure to stop in for a look. It's a little gem in this town... Cheers!More
My first wine tasting! And it was Bubbly, for New Year's Eve! It was a wonderful event. Local folks, together, tasting bubbly! The gentleman who share the information about each of the eight wines was so informative. I learned what I liked, did not, and...loved! Of course my favorite was the most expensive bottle! (How does that happen?). There were delicious snacks - strawberries dipped in chocolate……… I look forward to next months!More
Vic & Whit's is a local landmark, occupying decent square footage in a historic brick building on Main Street in downtown Saco. After an impressive expansion and renovation some years back, owner Mark Johnston (a former several-time mayor of the city) can always be found...in the kitchen preparing sandwiches or ladling up the day's soup special. Mark is also great at engaging in political conversation or discussing local history in a way that tells you he is passionate about his city, but that does not make you feel preached to. His longtime friend (and former wife) Beth minds the counter, and is always happy to help a customer navigate their extensive wine collection. The interior of the shop is warm and cozy, and invites you to linger at the antique bar where a well-known local attorney can often be found having a quiet lunch. The sandwich selection is solid if not inventive, and the specials blackboard always advertises several choices, usually including a sandwich or 2, a hot entree, and at least one soup. It's fresh, homemade, filling, and satisfying. There is no pretention in this little shop, and it's worth the time to stop by and enjoy a lunch there or to go. Chances are very good that once you get talking with Mark and Beth, you'll learn something you didn't know when you walked in the door.More
This store has had its day in the sun. It has progressively gotten worse, the quality of food and declined while the prices rise. Just yesterday I got a simple Grilled Ham and Cheese (which they now call a panini) and a bottle of Poland...Spring water and the cost was $9.50. The place is a cluttered shop, while they have a great wine selection, the food selection is not so much to be recommended.More
wine and beer selection as well as advise was wonderful. Both the sections I made with the help of the owner was loved.
Sandwiches were delicious! Owners were delightful! Outside garden was relaxing and peaceful! Extensive beer & wine selection!
A wonderful place located on Main Street. We sat outside in the garden for lunch. It reminded us of being back in Europe! The owner is great and rich with knowledge about this little gem of a town!
