We finally found the quintessential Clam Roll here. Aah, heaven! The food was fabulously New England, the service was delightfully familiar, prices good, clean place, lots of locals and lots of tourists. Perfect place for a late lunch, early dinner. It was a wonderful find for us.

Don't be put off by the outside. You will be made welcome and be served excellent meals at very reasonable prices. The lobster looked good as did the all you can eat shrimp. We were lobstered out by this point in our holiday so we had the Turkey Open with all the trimmings.

The Rockland Cafe is a local favorite, and I have been there 3 times! The seafood is phenominal! May I recommend the home made seafood and chowders? And the haddock basket? Oh.. cant forget the lobster you can choose from the tank (the one filled by local lobster boats in the harbor down the street!)? Its a very reasonably priced,... More

Our first night in Rockland we walked down the street and stopped in here, fresh tank of lobster greeted us as well as large home made cookies, smelled great. We each ordered the fried haddock with fries, fish was excellent, steak size pieces and home made tartar sauce icing on the cake. Fries were hot and seasoned well. Friendly service,... More

Our hotel recommended this little restaurant and we were glad they did. It's nothing fancy, but the food was excellent and at a great price. I had a prime rib and my wife had the chowder and the fishcake. The place is very kitschy, with lots of fun things hanging on the walls. My wife loved the bathroom decorations. The... More

Looking for a place for lunch in downtown Rockland and ended up at the Rockland Cafe. This is a local establishment -- meaning that it attracts a lot of locals which -- as a tourist - is always a good sign to me. If the locals eat here - it must be worth a try. The place is very casual... More

While tracking down the best lighthouses in Maine, I discovered that Rockland is known as the Lobster Capital of the World. As we drove through town this option popped up as a quality seafood option. Lobster tanks greeted us just inside the door, and I had to try the Lobster Roll Special. Very good!

Came in for breakfast today. I ordered 2 eggs scrambled and I emphasized scrambled well and cooked well. Along with an order of bacon and sausage. The eggs came out nowhere near close to being well done and I had to send them back. Why some cooks have a hard time understanding well cooked is beyond me. The bacon was... More

Stopped in for lunch after a regular Maine visitor suggested it. We each ordered the fresh haddock cake and a bowl of seafood chowder. Chowder was pleasantly full of seafood -no potatoes in a milky sauce. Haddock cake was fresh and a pleasant surprise. We shared a slice of blueberry pie which was also delicious. Very casual, busy with what... More
