Oh my what a gem, traveling through on our way to somewhere else, stopped in for lunch. Food was exceptional. I had a burger and wife had lobster stew, two ends of the food spectrum, both were so yummy. Prices were very reasonable. If ever in Maine again I will make a trip back here.

The Brass Compass Cafe is a bit of a hometown dive. It has a mismatched, cluttered decor and the servers are not especially friendly which contradicts what we have found for the most part in Maine. We sought out the location based on Trip Advisor reviews looking specifically for the Lobster Club. We found it and we were not disappointed.... More

The menu was filled with so much wonderful sounding dishes and pastries we had a hard time choosing. Loved what we had and the local atmosphere of the space.

When we found out the owner beat Bobbie Flay years ago in the throw down for a lobster roll we had to go try it. The place is showing its age, we sat on a lot of tape keeping the vinyl bench seating together. We got our lobster rolls and a couple of beers, the sand which was fresh, bacon... More

After walking around the harbor and learning lobster lore, we yearned for lunch. Our innkeepers recommended the Compass Cafe as we'd asked about a good, authentic lobster roll. My husband and I found the Compass' lobster rolls just right--split roll, sweet lobster, and that's about it. Served with fresh lemon wedges, hand cut fries, and a small serving of coleslaw... More

They do several excellent variations on eggs Benedict here. I had the crab omelette w/hollandaise sauce - exceptional. great coffee too. Fellow diners had the award winning King of Clubs with lobster and raved about it.

My family of 4 split 2 Lobster Clubs w/ Fries & each had a chowder & we were STUFFED. Sandwich was amazing. Big. So good... Hand cut fries (malt vinegar on the table... mmm...) and the chowder was great. Greasy Spoon type place... mostly locals, but this club sandwich has put them on the map. They close at 3:00, so... We had a lobster roll and the lobster blt. My husband loved the lobster blt (though it was a substantial sandwich to put away!) and the lobster roll was great too. Would definitely stop by again for lunch.

This little cafe was filled, even at 1:30 pm on a Saturday afternoon. Our server seated us outside and we thought she had forgotten us. We were about to get up and walk away when she appeared and took our orders. Things went smoothly after that, and our server was very attentive. My companion's lobster roll was filled with fresh... Quaint little cafe to stop and eat. The town is fun to go through and the food is fantastic. Try the lobster club if you're hungry... very large. And the clam chowder was really good too. They have a large selection of pies as well. I was watching the food go out to their customers and it all looked wonderful.... More
