Small plates, big flavor

Stopped in with friends before a show. Told the waitress we had limited time. She advised us what to order so we could make our show on time. Large open dining room. Great service, with excellent flavors. Looking forward to going back with more time.

This restaurant and everything we ate was amazing. Not only do they use locally-produced foods, and have friendly, informative servers, but the food is amazing. I loved the North spore mushrooms in smoked brisket vinaigrette so much, I ordered a second plate.

Not having much time in Portland, we restaurant hopped, and I'm so glad we did. Local 188's chocolate cheesecake and bread pudding were the perfect finish to a great day. The desserts are small, but they are taste sensations beautifully presented... a labor of love for the staff - thank you for your efforts:)

From drinks to food from ambiance to staff. everything about Local 188 delivers. I went with a group from work to have cocktails and the menu was too tempting to stay away from. Try the fried garlic!

Loved the food, would have taken the server and the chef home in a doggie bag if possible. Will recommend it to anyone I know. Lovely night out.

I had read somewhat mixed reviews of Local 188 but we wanted to see for ourselves. And we are so happy we made the decision to check this great place out! My wife and I worked our way through the tapas menu and really enjoyed the each dish. We were there on the early side (6:30) and it was a... More

Came in for a quick bite before going to a concert. As we walked in, no one greeted us by the door and no sign was up telling us to "Please wait to be seated." After standing in the doorway for about two minutes with people watching us we moved and found our own seating. As soon as we sat... More

What a disappointment, again..my husband and I came last Year for valentine's day and I figured the service was bad and the food was "okay" because it was a holiday. We decided to give it another try with friends for brunch. We sat at the bar to get faster service and it was. 2 hour meal. Our first server/bartender (blonde)... More

Planned on going to Hot Suppa for breakfast, but no way I was waiting 30min. Stopped in at Local 188 and sat immediately. Breakfast was great. Eggs cooked perfectly, really thick delicious bacon, and a laid back atmosphere. Our waiter Andy was exceptional. Will be back again for another great breakfast.

Local never ceases to amaze. In the summer, it is great for sitting outside (and bringing the dog). The whitefish and mussels were incredible, and the hummus/pita appetizer was also good. There are always interesting cocktails. Since I had always gone there for dinner, I was surprised at how delicious the brunch was. The cinnamon rolls/donut appetizers were amazing! I... More
