We popped into this place looking for good beer, good atmosphere and available restrooms (not necessarily in that order). The bar is loud and brash and full of people, not for the mild and meek. There are a million beer mugs hanging from the ceiling out of which you can drink on presentation of a credit/debit card. We ordered blueberry... More

Fun spot - great beer and delish pub grub. Great for lunch or dinner - kids or couples. Although the Freeport location is AWESOME with kids (the outdoor area there is AMAZE)

We had a party of eight, so many items on the menu were sampled. All reports were favorable. The pretzel sticks were good, the chowder was, too. The sweet potato fries were very well received

We stopped in for lunch, mostly to have a beer. The beer was great of course, however the food was very good. The service was very good. We will return.

always stop here for lunch when I was on business in Portland. had to have a burger. haven't been there in a while, but I would guess there is still a mug with my name on it, hanging from the ceiling.

Had a small lunch of shared fish sandwich/salad, and draft., all very good. Had to sit at picnic tables, if you want a back sit near the wall. Service was very good and fast

We had our dog with us while visiting Portland. The front desk staff at our hotel told us that Grittys allows dogs on their patio so we went. Lunch was great. The patio is just several picnic tables lined up out back but it was enjoyable to sit out there and people watch. The service was friendly and efficient, the... More

Accidentally stumbled on this place and so glad we did. Beers - amazing selection of home brewed ales. Different types to satisfy your particular preference. Food - the place was heaving and everyone was eating. We went for Philly steak sandwiches that were great. Service - we sat at the bar and the barman was pleasant, amusing and helpful. Gluten... Great location in Portland Harbor. Known for its mug club where you get your personal beer mug hung over the bar (about 300). Lunch was turkey club sandwich and garlic mashed potatoes. Wife had their Rachel, a Reuben sandwich made with turkey. Both sandwiches were very good and large enough that we had to take half home for dinner. They... More

Gritty McDuff's, Maine's Original Brew Pub specializes in hand-crafted English style ales and traditional and creative pub fare, in a friendly and fun atmosphere. Both Gritty's fine ales and the pubs have won countless "best of" awards through our twenty-five years of operation. Our standard brews are session beers, Gritty's Pub-Style Pale Ale, McDuff's Best Bitter, Black Fly Stout, allowing one to have multiple beers within a reasonable time period without overwhelming the senses. Our seasonal and varietal ale offerings are more adventurous, some with a higher ABV, and some with higher IBU. We brew a beer for all craft brew palates. For the diner, we offer traditional pub fare alongside not so traditional specialty items. Our pub-style long tables with benches easily accommodate parties of all sizes and add to the camaraderie.
