only stopped in for some beers. Great atmosphere and bartenders were very friendly and didn't let our drinks stay empty very long. Go downstairs though, much more "pub" feel. Really cool place. Oh yes, they brew own beer right there really neat!

We have been going here for years (as well as their other locations). Good beer (we have mugs), average food and free entertainment many nights of the week.

Not bad, definitely try the Bbq wings and Cajun spice, pretzel sticks awesome and broccoli cheddar chips with bacon. Very good. I had fried haddock It was great. Chowder also excellent. Nice big wooden picnic tables for seating. Great atmosphere you feel as though your home which is nice when traveling the Country.

The outside seating at Gritty is located on my favorite street in portland ...cobblestone road from historic Portland. We sat and drank good beer on the cobblestones and watched people walk past. Good cold beer and music. A perfect afternoon. I'll be back.

We've been to Griitys over the years and have always enjoyed our visits there. The menu is large and well varied, all at a fair price. And their own craft beer choices offer something of quality for everyone. Unfortunately for me, Grittys is now a fairly average brew pub. That's not to say that they've gone backward at all, it's... Love Gritty's. Like the fact they have some picnic bench seating, it's great for a larger family & grandkids! The menu is large & good choices for the kids. The guys in the family enjoyed trying out some local beers. I tried the Lobster Poutin, wished I could have taken leftovers, as the portion was sizeable, but we were traveling.... More

We stopped by for a beer and a snack after a recommendation for our one day in Portland. The beer is average and the poutine was really kind of gross...I don't like to say that, but my husband and both thought the exact same thing. Maybe they just lost their way and need to make another visit to our neighbors... More

Gritty's is a nice brewery pub on the main street one block up from the waterfront. It is a warm and inviting place with a large bar area. Service was good on a Sunday afternoon. Server was pleasant and prompt. Beers were good. Chowder and soup were OK after a bit of doctoring with S & P and hot sauce.... More

We stopped in for a quick round. I had the Pale Ale and my wife had a Gin and Tonic. They brew some of the beer themselves. The interesting hook is all the mugs suspended from the ceiling. The locals have a mug club. You pay a fee and get your own mug, which the bar tender grabs with a... More

Description
Gritty McDuff's, Maine's Original Brew Pub specializes in hand-crafted English style ales and traditional and creative pub fare, in a friendly and fun atmosphere. Both Gritty's fine ales and the pubs have won countless "best of" awards through our twenty-five years of operation. Our standard brews are session beers, Gritty's Pub-Style Pale Ale, McDuff's Best Bitter, Black Fly Stout, allowing one to have multiple beers within a reasonable time period without overwhelming the senses. Our seasonal and varietal ale offerings are more adventurous, some with a higher ABV, and some with higher IBU. We brew a beer for all craft brew palates. For the diner, we offer traditional pub fare alongside not so traditional specialty items. Our pub-style long tables with benches easily accommodate parties of all sizes and add to the camaraderie.
