We stopped at Gritty McDuff's for lunch before a tour of Portland. The restaurant was largely empty and we were able to score a table that looked out onto the city's waterfront. The servers seemed almost annoyed that they had to do their jobs and were having a borderline inappropriate personal conversation within earshot of my group and other customers.... More

This place was busy when we got there but there was still places to sit. I didn't really like their beer selection but my friends did. The food was ok but nothing special. My friend really liked the clam chowder and the fries. I had the chili, which I thought was partially from a can. Good place to go if... More

From the minute you walk in you are transported to Ireland. Terrific decor, great selection of beers, efficient service, good pub eats.

Great bar, great beer, great veggie burger! This was our second time in Gritty's. It has now become a staple on a trip to portland.

Located in the middle of Old Port, this is your basic brew pub, but the food was better than average. I had the soup and half sandwich - clam chowder and grilled cheese and tomato with lots of house-made chips and it was a real bargain at $7.99. There were about 8 choices from their brewery - I had the... More

Great service. Four of us stopped here after doing the wicked walking tours. All food brought to the table was wonderful. We are all beer drinkers and we were pleased. If you want fancy wine and piña coladas this is not the place for you. Tasty beer and food.

Good Beer, burger, and pub atmosphere. If that is what you are looking for near the docks in Portland good place to stop by. Looking for something more upscale for dinner with a higher price suggest you keep walking. Burger was good but suggest you steer clear of the fish and chips.

We had two great locally brewed beers (IPA and stout) and a thick clam chowder. Reasonably priced, central location. Great music as well.

Thank Ron M

Gritty McDuff's, Maine's Original Brew Pub specializes in hand-crafted English style ales and traditional and creative pub fare, in a friendly and fun atmosphere. Both Gritty's fine ales and the pubs have won countless "best of" awards through our twenty-five years of operation. Our standard brews are session beers, Gritty's Pub-Style Pale Ale, McDuff's Best Bitter, Black Fly Stout, allowing one to have multiple beers within a reasonable time period without overwhelming the senses. Our seasonal and varietal ale offerings are more adventurous, some with a higher ABV, and some with higher IBU. We brew a beer for all craft brew palates. For the diner, we offer traditional pub fare alongside not so traditional specialty items. Our pub-style long tables with benches easily accommodate parties of all sizes and add to the camaraderie.
