Stopped off for drinks first and then came back for an amazing dinner. Lobster Mac and Cheese was killer!!!! The pork chops were excellent and so was the fish dishes. He bartender had a great pour on her drinks and they have really interesting martinis. Desserts were just as good with a lot of local ingredients in a cool atmosphere.

TripAdvisor rankings average over a lot of different preferences. It would be great if there was a way to sort past the average. If one sorted on fine dining, 555 would surely rank at the top of the list for Portland. We have recently dined at Central Provisions, Fore Street, Eventide and Duckfat. None come close to 555. The ambience... More

We have eaten at the restaurant 3 or 4 times, each time we have enjoyed memorable meals. The creative and interesting fare is outstanding.

High marks for a quiet, sophisticated space where one can actually hear what one's dinner partner is saying! We were seated upstairs and even though it is close quarters with waiters passing by, that didn't bother us at all. I would agree with a previous reviewer that the red pepper soup was too spicy. Server let me try the rose... More

We appreciate when guests take time out of their busy lives to give us feedback. We have spoken to the Chef regarding the soup and toned down the spice level, as it did seem to bother several customers. This type of feedback is very helpful as we strive to create a perfect evening for our guests. We hope to see... More

We visit Portland to see friends about once a year, and last night we dined at 555 for the second time. All I remembered about the first visit was how miserable we were seated upstairs, in a crowded balcony space. This time we sat downstairs in a lovely room and between the four of us we ordered many of the... More

We visited 555 on the recommendation of a friend and boy were we in for a treat! The restaurant bar has some of the most delicious cocktails we've ever had. We tried their house sangria which was muddled with strawberries and rhubarb...who knew we'd be in for such a delicious libation...wow! We followed our drinks with the mussels...let me just... More

What a nice read! Thank you for your feedback, our Bar Manager will be thrilled to read how much her hard work is appreciated-she works dilligently at sourcing local ingredients and creating special drinks. We had read so many good things about Five Fifty-Five and decided to try it on a recent weekend. When they reconfirmed our reservation, they asked about diet restrictions and I mentioned one – I was impressed that they were so accommodating. We arrived a few minutes after our reservation (parking there is horrendous, so plan accordingly), but we were... More

I wanted to thank you for your feedback. It is very helpful for staff training and continued improvement. I am truly sorry your scotch glass was warm, we certainly would have been happy to remedy that right away if we had known. Of course the server should have felt the glass, however, it is something we would have liked to... More
