This place is the real deal. The sushi chefs are very skilled and produce dozens of tempting rolls. Our favorite was the lobster roll - YUM! There are plenty of seafood options on the extensive menu. We sat at the sushi bar and service was good. Another option is to sit at low tables, on pillows on the floor, as... More

I have been to Japan five times and sampled food from all over their entire country. The food at this restaurant is of the same quality, freshness and presented perfectly. Spider crab was wonderful. I could hardly walk back to my hotel which was only two blocks.

My boyfriend, four year old son, and I love eating here! This is the only restaurant in Portland where you can sit at a table on the "floor" which are called kotatsus. They have the kotatsus on a platform (which you do not wear shoes while seated at) so you are at a comfortable height for the waiter while standing.... More

Great food, wonderful Japanese ambience including a more traditional tatami-like dining area across from the sushi bar section of the restaurant. We were traditionally welcomed into the dining room w/ an energetic chorus of "Irashaimase!" from the the host, chefs and servers near the door as we entered. My husband settled into his usual Japanese restaurant entree of sushi and... More

Food took at least 30 minutes to come out- my boyfriend and I figured out after the fact that the kitchen was out of sweet potatoes. A sweet potato tempura roll was filled with white potato and a sushi roll that was supposed to included yams was replaced with radishes. When inquiring to the manager, the manager told us it... We are fans of Japanese food, having traveled in Japan three times. This is the best Japanese restaurant in New England -- the one that we take a trip to Portland just to eat here. Their food is more authentic than most restaurants that call themselves Japanese. Food & service are excellent.

Authentic Japanese food, fresh sushi, all available with fresh Maine seafood. Nice atmosphere and great service. Would definitely eat there again.

Great to find this little gem of a restaurant! We are staying in Freeport and drove down for the food, which really was fantastic. Very family-friendly, but shouldn't overwhelm non-parents. Lots of great touches of authenticity, including nice bento boxes, training chopstick holders for kids, proper Japanese sitting arrangements... Food is fantastic, did I mention that the food was fantastic... More

The food was really good. My wife had the lobster meal. It was huge! My dinner was also good. I think the prices were fair.

We happened on this restaurant after we were mistreated at a seafood place that we plan to eat at. Boy did I thank that seafood restaurant for dragging their feet in taking our order, or I wouldn't have had the opportunity to eat at this top-notch Japanese restaurant. Our waiter was attentive and made good suggestions. We ended up ordering... More
