I had a super delicious meal and I even got to watch them bread and fry it all right in front of me. It was tasty, HOT, and filling. Not a lot of atmosphere just the sounds made by happy diners.

I have had all kinds of food there. Definitely the best value in Portland. Everything is fried to perfection.

Basic fish and chips place. Décor didn't offer any kind of real atmosphere. Back patio seemed messy and cluttered with no set scheme going. Seemed to be just tossed together. The lobsta roll and fries were good but not for $13.99. Portions were small and I was still hungry after the meal.

In a foodie city known for remarkable fish and seafood, J's just ok. Had ok chowder, lobster rolls, fried haddock and cole slaw here, and, while it was fine, it was not nearly as good as Fisherman’s Grill. Was better than 3 Buoys.

It had been several years since I had enjoyed fish and chips at Susan's with family who live locally. We stopped by for crabmeat rolls on Father's Day and were disappointed. The area to order was not clearly designated and we stood for some time at the counter thinking we were in the wrong spot. Our crab rolls were bland... More

And took it to the east end to enjoy with a friend. Plentiful, fried well but the seafood was stored in water and you can tell. Life would be different if they made their own tartar sauce but overall tasty.

I took my husband for his birthday to this seafood restaurant on our way to Bar Harbor. Quite honestly we were both very disappointed. We shared a seafood platter the scallops tasted like iodine, the breading fell off the seafood and the shrimp seemed like they were canned. There had been so many good reviews we thought we would give it... More

We have eaten here before, and I have fond memories of the quality of the food. Recently, we stopped in with family who were visiting from California and Texas. They really wanted some seafood, and we thought this would be a good choice. Several of us had the seafood combination, and two had lobster rolls. My wife said that her... More

Saw this place featured on the Phantom Gourmet and being a seafood lover I knew I had to go when I visited Portland. I make sure to go back each time to get my fill. This is a no frills no fuss kind of place with a partial community dinning experience. If you love great fresh New England seafood this... More

My family has been to Susan's and raved about the food. Recently I was lucky enough to go and they were right. My scallops were cooked perfectly and were delicious. It was my daughter's birthday so we shared the fried banana boat while we waited for our take out order. It was a great way to spend the short time... More
