What an absolute joy it was to celebrate a family birthday here! Everything was prepared with the utmost care, our server was well versed in the menu, which changes daily, and she exhibited the perfect balance of caring about her diners and not being at the table too often. She was wonderful and I'm so sorry I don't remember her... More

I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn next door and was looking for a good place for dinner within walking distance. After a little research, I found Fore Street to be the best reviewed, and was happy to discover it was across the parking lot. I had the mussels for an appetizer (highly recommend) and flank steak. The wine selection... More

The first thing you'll notice when you walk in is the distinct smell of a wood burning fire, from the brick oven that is used in the kitchen. The dining room surrounds an open kitchen where about 4 were hard at work when we visited in January. We didn't need a reservation on this night, but I would suspect you... More

Went here on a business meal with a work colleague from the UK for dinner. The food was what one would expect in Portland, can't really go wrong with locally sources roasted meat and seafood. Prepared well. The night I went I had a grilled meat and an ice cream. Dessert was more memorable than the meal. Overall a very... More

I really don't enjoy giving a negative review; it's much more fun for me to encourage people to try a good place than it is for me to pan a bad one. Having said that, here goes... Our party of eight (with reservations made weeks in advance) showed-up upon opening at 6 or so on a gorgeous mid-summer Saturday when... More

We looked at the online menu that featured some items we would be interested in. Having a wonderful previous experience at a sister restaurant , Street & co, our expectations were for an equal experience. We arrived early and sat at the bar ordered drinks. Looking at the menu noticed that it was NOT the menu posted online, no problem... More

We were here on January 3rd and had no problem walking in without reservations. Dinner was absolutely delicious. Simple no fuss plates with outstanding flavor. Love the open kitchen.

Having occasion to return to Fore Street on New Year's Eve 2016 confirmed that this is one of the most excellent dining experiences in Portland and have now on two occasions delighted my party with an exceptional dining experience. The reservations agents were efficient and helpful, and confirmed my reservation via phone and e-mail ahead of time. They were very... More

Great atmosphere, very popular spot. Get there at 5pm if you don't have a reservation and you have a chance to get a table. Nice longe area to have a drink while you wait. Bread is from Standard Bakery. Recommend mussels, scallops and steak.

Special B.Day supper for hubby...we can't think of any Cons, all Pros! These folks have their system down pat, from start to finish. It was not crazy busy, they seem to keep a tight rein on reservations to make sure their guests don't feel too crowded or rushed, and noise level was never a concern for us, (which we 'over-60...
