We experienced our annual visit to Fore Street tonight. We didn't have a reservation but when you show up around 5 PM they can usually work you in. We were told they would seat us at 6. We had a drink in the bar waiting for a table. My wife ordered the hanger steak and a salad. I had the... More

Four of us dined at Fore Street Restaurant having great expectations after reading many positive reviews. We were walk-ins and were told there would be a 45 minute wait, which we eagerly accepted. We felt privileged to be able to dine there after reading about having to make reservations so far in advance. Upon first glance at the menu and... More

I wrote another review of Fore Street in June 2014. I still think it is a 5-star experience, and it is interesting just understanding how they prepare and present the great dishes they serve. I enjoyed it so much in 2014 that another visit during our travels was warranted. We again sampled multiple salads, a couple appetizers, 3 different entrees,... More

Waited about fifteen minutes to be recognized and drink orders taken. Food was ok but not outstanding. Service was snooty. Not a great experience.

Fore Street is an amazing dining experience with great ambiance. I love sitting at the bar and chatting it up with the other diners and discussing their menu choices. You can't make a bad choice here and although the menu is on the smaller side, it makes for a perfect meal or apps if you are just in the mood... More

Had dinner with family and once again enjoyed the food and service that Fore Street has offered for years. I had the tomato tart and the lamb steak and had little room for the bites of crumble my daughter ordered.

Went to Fore street the night before which is apparently the same owner. Octopus was amazing. Ordered another one after dinner as it was so good. Instead of an entree we ordered three items on tasting menu and all were delicious. Appetizers were octopus and squid and spinach salad. Squid much better at fore street. Would go again and recommend

This was our final meal in Portland and we definitely saved the best for last. The bread at the start of the meal was amazing. For appetizers, we sampled the roasted tomato soup, tomato tart, heirloom tomato salad, and oysters and all were excellent. The main courses were just as good, The roasted chicken was incredibly moist and flavorful, as... More

This being our first time to Fore Street, we did the full gambit cocktails to deserts. We loved the mussels with bread from the Standard Baking company to sop up the delicious broth. I had wood fired duck which was to die for, my husband had the bluefish which was delicate and well balanced. We finished with an array of... More

We called 2 weeks before and could only get a 530 reservation. We soon found out why. First we were presented with excellent bread. We ordered the seafood sampler appetizer and was rewarded with a great dish. The cooking on open wood burning "kitchen" provided entertainment watching the hardworking chefs. Be sure to make your reservations early.
