Terrific atmosphere and a great selection of local wine and whiskey. Please, if you are an adult, come here your first night. It will set the atmosphere for the rest of your trip.

We went here a couple of times since we were in Portland to drink and eat. It is hidden which is super cool! We sat outside both times because it was warm and sunny and who doesn't want to sit outside? We did have to go inside to use the washrooms, and inside was super cool also, very pub feel... More

This place is off the beaten path but so worth it!!! It's tucked neatly behind some buildings and the craft brew selection is outrageous! You gave to try the crab Rangoon grilled cheese... Truly a very special place!

Novare Res is a terrific bar and biergarten in Portland. My family ate and drank here on a Saturday afternoon. The beer list is totally great. Heavy on the Belgian style but they've got something for everyone. Try some of the Maine varieties which are always on draft. When we went there was a Jolly Pumpkin (MI) tap takeover. It's... More

Call it an urban legend, that's how I learned about Novare Res from a local. Locals don't know addresses, they only know the way. So when he said to look for the iron gated alleyway with musicians playing just across the street from "The Thirsty Pig", I had my doubts and nodded politely. But I had to wonder why with... More

Loved the patio tucked away in the old port. Huge beer selection ,small eclectic food menu...causal and fun, picnic tables were perfect for our large group.... Only one waiter for whole patio ,service was a little slow

A strange ambiance but the people are friendly and the local beer selection is fairly extensive. We had fun and would go back with friends given the opportunity.

We went in with a group of 8. It was a fun place to grab a drink, very social atmosphere! Will definitely go again. Looked like they had a great patio!

One of the best international selections of beers I've ever seen (except perhaps St-Bock in Montreal). The staff are very knowledgeable (hello Mel!) and love their job, and it shows! Great selection of Maine and northeast beers.

We loved the beer selection and the super knowledgeable staff. The food was okay. The atmosphere was okay too, not the most comfortable seating and zero privacy. I would go here for the beer only
