The restaurant is in an old bank building so it is very spacious. There are several areas which are spread apart. The wait staff was friendly and efficient. I found the menu a bit limited with very selections for lunch. There were 2 or 3 salad options and 2 or 3 sandwiches on the menu. Settled for the Lobster tostada... More

Food was just ok. Cool building, former bank. Friendly waitstaff. Had a lemon martini, refreshing. Salsa kind of odd. Chips good.

Built in what appears to be a re-purposed bank building (complete with vaults), this restaurant serves an excellent brunch. I enjoyed empanadas with chorizo filling, topped with sunny side up eggs. The service was good, and the food tasty and hot. The view of the square out the window was an interesting diversion.

Our friends, Portland residents suggested Sonnys. For starters we had the mussels, cerviche and Fried advocado with lobster. Each one was incredibly delicious. The mussels were perfectly prepared. The cerviche was pillow like and nothing like I ever tasted before. The double burger was outstanding. Our service person shared that it won a local food award. Quite deserving! The brisket... More

Visited Sonny's twice over the past month and was not overwhelmed either time. Menu is very limited, food is good, prices average. Hear they have a great Sunday brunch, but dinner both times was just so-so.

We three had reservations for dinner early evening whereby a local resident shared her enthusiasm for their great choices. She was as dissappointed as much as we were to see only 6 menu choices offered. Somehow we managed to split a single fried avocado stuffed with lobster between 3 people. There was nothing on the menu that appealed to me... More

There were some highlights of the brunch…the yam fries and aioli were delicious! My son loved the poblano and potato soup and the chorizo cakes. His girlfriend liked the french toast. The waitress suggested the huevos rancheros but I thought is was bland, and basic. The service wasn't perfect…we were seated and waited on by the same person and her... More

Sonnys has mediocre food and the worst staff. We were treated horribly and I made sure to let them know that my wife and I will never return despite living a few blocks away. The owners need to figure out a way to hire better cooks in the kitchen and a bat staff that doesn't make their paying customers turn... More

Sonny's is a popular happy hour spot on Exchange Street in the "Old Port" section of Portland, and it's easy to see why when you check out their extensive drink menu. Formerly a bank, Sonny's retains some historic charm, from the wine cellar that was formerly a vault to the gorgeous old molding and tiled floor. The awesome high ceilings... More
