Perfection! Lobster Roll Heaven.
You WILL get more lobster meat in a 6oz roll That a 1.5lb steamed lobster.
Ask for any cocktail/drink you can imagine, they will make it.
Their motto, “No middle men-Just lobster men” adequately And accurately describes the restaurant.
Live, fresh and delivered to the docks below the restaurant off lobster boats is as good as it gets.
If you want a fresher lobster you will have to go trap it yourself.
Look for the lobster traps and the fresh live lobsters at the entrance.
Excellent location, on the pier, great folks, fantastic service.
Can’t wait to go back!

Luke's Lobster is located on the pier just off of the main road, Commercial Street. We waited about 5 minutes to be seat inside, which we asked for. The whole building has good views of the bay. Prices are high but the food was good. We ordered the lobster roll which came with a side and it cost $23. The rolls are not that big so if you are looking for a meal you may want to get something else. This is a pier so all the food prices are inflated. Great experience and tasty food.

We ordered delivery from Luke's on the first evening we arrived in town for an extended weekend. The food was absolutely delicious - and we were super pleased to see that it all had arrived piping hot, and packaged perfectly. The lobster was cooked 100% on point and the meat was to die for! We especially enjoyed the claw meat. The side dishes were also very good... as a slaw fan I give it 2 thumbs up! We thought the Steamed Shore Dinner was a great value at $38, and it was enough for 2 people - as it also came with a pound of clams. I'd definitely recommend Luke's again, and we can't wait to dine-in during our next visit to Portland!

We dined here twice, about a month apart. The first visit was very good, so we returned. The second visit will be our last. Upstairs, the big picture windows give wonderful views of the harbor. We had excellent service on our first visit. The second visit, the service was disappointing. We were a party of seven, but were allowed only three paper menus. Really? Not all in our party had cell phones to scan menus. We had to ask for straws, more napkins, more ketchup, drink refills. The menu stated that 18% tip would be added to the bill. Ok. When we got our bill, 20% was added. We asked the server why we were charged 20%, rather than the 18% as stated. The answer was, "oh, they changed it." C'mon. The quality of the service and the server's attitude did not warrant more than 18% and they should follow what is printed on the menu. If you want lobster with a view, check out other places. Nothing special here (except the view) unless you like cole slaw with mustard in it.

I was craving a classic lobster roll and this place had even more than I was looking for. I ordered the trio ($23) which was half a lobster roll, half a crab roll and half a shrimp roll. All were on a perfectly toasted butter hotdog buns. Just a touch of mayo and nothing else. Absolutely delicious! I upgraded from the chips to potato salad for $1 more. Red skinned taters with dill, little bits of onion and light mayo. Pretty darn tasty. Hubby had thick and creamy clam chowder bowl ($12) which had a fresh clam flavor to it and haddock bites ($14) which were hot and fresh. Tartar sauce was good too. Location is awesome! Great water views. Service was very good.

Our family had an incredible lunch at Luke's Lobster on a weekday afternoon. We upgraded the whole lobster dish to 2 pounds. The regular dish comes in at 1 and a half pounds. The hard shell lobster was incredible, filled with, no, packed with meat in every parts of the body. We tried all four side dishes as well. One whole lobster dish comes with two side dishes. There are small, but great. Out of four, we liked three - fries, potatoes and cole slaw. We also had a haddock, which melted in your mouth. The service was exceptional as it was fast and very accommodating, answering all our questions and explaining how to tackle the monstrous lobsters in very simple and practical way. The view from the pier is incredible as well. Almost every seat inside and outside is a table with view. The restaurant has two levels and both levels have inside and outside dining options. If you have never tried the Maine lobster dish before and this is your first time, then make it at the Luke's and you won't be disappointed. We just did that and we're happy campers. The prices were very reasonable as well. For the average prices of two lobster rolls, you could have the whole lobster dish with two sides.

Ordered the Haddock Bites very good taste not over cooked made to perfection. Lobster Bisque very tasty and creamy a bit of more lobster should be added but it was good. The steamed shore dinner includes steamed clams and very good size lobster two can eat from same ordered. Overall, the staff was very attentive and welcoming. Cleaned rest. COVID19 rules strictly followed and thats a plus.

We had a reservation for 5:45 and waited at least 10 minutes, possibly 15, before anyone ever acknowledged that we were there and waiting. After we were seated the door to the outside of the building was open and it was quite cold in the dining room. My husband’s broiled haddock sandwich was tough. The lobster in my lobster roll was mealy and there were small bits of congealed butter/lard in with the lobster. They formed very small beads throughout. We have eaten there several times in the past and were quite pleased, but we are unlikely to return after this visit. One positive note, my winter mule cocktail was delicious.

Despite a fabulous location and lots of hype, our experience was disappointing. On a cold Tuesday evening, we arrived only to be ignored by the three young staff chatting in the reception area.
We saw our party and seated ourselves with
nary a glance from them.
Our server came across as not being interested in doing her job. It was impossible to get her attention when we needed attention. My husband’s order was wrong AND he had a hair on his plate. Being way too tolerant and wanting to eat, he removed the hair and chose to eat anyway. Yuch !
I had broiled haddock and he had fried haddock. Both were overcooked and dry.
The fries were good as was the side salad which comes with only one choice of dressing. Guess that you aren’t allowed to have taste preferences.
The side slaw is very good, but the serving size was ridiculously small. Barely 2 tablespoons worth and that’s being generous.
Our friend who had fried clams had by far the best dish at the table. They were sweet and tender. However, her order was incorrect as well. Wrong sides.
Her husband had scallops which were okay but nothing special.
The restaurant was not busy and there was no reason for such lackadaisical attitude/attention to food and service.
In a city rife with restaurants. Luke’s needs to up their game.
I expect that the location will be the main draw. It’s stunning.
I might return for drink and apps on a beautiful day.
If you want perfectly prepared seafood, head elsewhere.

We moved to Portland and only recently found Luke's since it is at the end of one of the Piers. Two-floor dining room where all the tables have a great view of the real working waterfront. If you came in the early afternoon you will likely see Lobster Boats returning. Both floors have upscale interiors while being family-friendly.
A lot of lobster shacks seem to end up with the same tasting fried foods but not here. Everything is very fresh (as one would expect when the lobster boats are passing by within 50 feet or so) and also cooked/served with a twist. For example, the calamari had grapes mixed in. Somehow Luke's seems to have grabbed a chef instead of a fry cook for their kitchen.
There is metered Parking near the door but is a little expensive at $7/hour

You'll enjoy a variety of seafood, and if it's lobster you want, they have it fresh. As for Grace for a great server and enjoy the view of the water while you eat. We enjoyed the combination half bun of lobster, shrimp and shrimp, with sauce on the side. Also ordered the clam chowder. The chowder was a little salty, so if you need to watch the sodium, I suggest you try something else. The seafood half bun combination was smaller than expected, but filling. You will pay a little more for the fresh seafood and the atmosphere, which is right down on the pier, amidst the vacationers and the young set. Be prepared to pay $7 per hour parking on the pier or find a spot on the main street and walk the short distance of the pier. Luke's is a well known restaurant, serving fresh fish entrees, and in the midst of the Portland downtown area. It's the place to eat when you are visiting and I give them a grade of A for quality, taste and service.

Located conveniently at the east end of Portland Pier, there are great views of the water. Try to get Kai, the bartender, to tell of his growing up on Peaks Island and taking the ferry to school. If taking the adjacent Rocky Bottom Lobster tour, this is a great place to eat before or after. Parking is available on the pier for $7:00 per hour by credit card

A local Portland cruise recommended Luke's and we figured we try it since the location was right on the pier. The hostesses were a bit overwhelmed with the lunch crowd ( this place gets busy, make a reservation) and they could have been more friendly. We waited about 25 minutes for a table, didn't get to sit outside but the views were still terrific. Some of my kids found it difficult to eat(vegans) something off the menu and wish they had more options like a veggie burger or pasta. There was a salad as a vegan option. My son made it his duty to try every Lobster roll in Maine that he could that claimed to be the best and Luke's won hands down! He said that the seasoning was delicious! My husband loved the haddock and my daughter loved her chicken nuggets. All the dishes we had were good and service was fine . I will also add that my husband and I had one of the best cocktails at Luke's in all of Maine! The "Buoy Bell " was fantastic! I would recommend it to others!

We decided that a mid-week winter day necessitated a bit of summer and dined in at Luke’s on the pier for lunch. At this time of the year, tourists are negligible and a few locals were seated at a socially distanced arrangement on the second floor. Our order was taken quickly, our beers brought shortly thereafter, and our starter arrived nearly in sync with the drinks. The fried calamari were crisp and not greasy, pairing well with the Lunch IPA. my wife had her birthday lobster roll with fries, and it rivaled what she expects from summer dining. Their fried cod sandwich arrived as a hefty portion; unfortunately, by placing the fish atop of the tomato and lettuce, the crisp golden coating at the contact with the vegetables turned into mush which reduced its appetizing appeal. The kitchen should consider serving the lettuce and tomato in the side to maintain the appeal of a well cooked fish. Our afternoon was highlighted by the appearance of Steely Dan, the harbor seal. Overall, Luke’s provides a good seafood meal at the current going price in the area.

We are overjoyed your visit with us was a great one! I'll be sure to share your suggestion about our haddock sandwich with the culinary team. Sealy Dan is always the highlight of my day. On occasion he is even out there with a friend. We are looking forward to your next visit with us here on the pier!

We went with guests from Portland Oregon who make it a goal to eat their weight in Lobster while here so we thought this place would be a good place to start. Location is wonderful, staff was wonderful, sunny right on the water. I’m a Mainer and once in a great while I will splurge and order lobster out…this is why I don’t. Frozen tasteless lobster and still charging like ya just pulled it out of the bay. To pay that much for lobster roll and not have it fresh not frozen is criminal. Won’t go again, there’s too many good places to get it.
