We had never noticed Miyake before as it's on the edge of Old Port. We were up for good Japanese food and were really happy with our meal - the luncheon special with choices from column A and column B (metaphorically) had many great options. The Tofu App was delicious, as was the salad (much better than the usual Japanese... More

Miyake is an original in both ways. Sticking to the original Japanese tradition but still a lot of creative originality in all of the dishes. With a party of 2-4, I highly recommend the Chef's Menu, as there will be lots of tastes and textures to share. Much of the fish is fresh and local -- so tasty! Expensive, but... More

Because I lived in Tokyo, I am very very picky about Japanese food. Miyake does everything well, in an atmosphere that is reminiscent of its Tokyo counterparts. Our waitress was quite knowledgeable, which was great. She was especially helpful surrounding the sake. If I've one criticism, it's an odd one------I had the total-vegetarian bento box and it was WAY too... More

Some of the freshes fish I have ever had. We got rolls and nigri but everything out of that kitchen looked amazing. We didn't come to Portland for sushi but definitely some of the best we have ever had. Definitely the best tuna roll I have ever eaten.

Stopped in here for lunch. There were two main options; a Bento Box and a lunch special, Tei Shoku, that came with a choice of an appetizer and a roll. Since there were two of us we had both options. Bento box was really good and well presented. The ingredients were all top quality and well made, but there was... More

The omasake is incredible, and so reasonably priced. We've had it on several occasions. This is our absolute favorite sushi restaurant in all of New England. Sit at the sushi bar for excellent entertainment. Also, a surprisingly great wine list and some interesting sake choices.

Definitely giving this restaurant a "wow" review. I've been to a lot of Japanese restaurants, but this was leagues better than anywhere else I've been. I've never been to Japan, but I imagine they're serving pretty authentic fare at Miyake's. We got the chef's choice set course dinner and it was really incredible. Didn't know what to expect next after... More

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Miyake the other night. The hostess Anne is a pleasure to get to know and very knowledgable about the food. In fact, her passion was evident through how she talked about our selections. I always look the server in the eye to see if they really mean what they say when we ask about... More

It was a nice restaurant for Portland. Very attractive. I liked it better than my husband did. He loves sashimi and was disappointed in the very small portions for the money. He had to ask for ginger and they gave him chunks if fresh ginger rather than the usual shaved ginger. I ordered the vegetable Omikase dinner and liked two... More

The best spicy tuna I have had in years, the rice is traditional Japanese prepared to perfection! Bento box was incredible with the style of authentic meets new world! Definitely the best in Maine!
