It was a great meal in friendly surroundings and wonderful menu. Fantastic atmosphere with live music. Nice service. The tables and menus could have been a touch cleaner.

After our slightly "off" experience and posting an earlier review to which Mathew Coggleshill, the General Manager responded, I wanted to revisit Hooks and hopefully enjoy the experience I've had in the past and the experiences that most reviewers have also enjoyed. We are owners...in Wells and have frequented Hooks many times. Clearly, our "off" experience in June was an anomoly. Again, the drinks were excellent - we were there during happy hour. We saw numerous plates of food being brought to other diners and they looked really good. We decided to order fish tacos and I will say they were among the best we've had in the area - and we are both big fans of fish tacos and have them at several restaurants in the area. A friend ordered the pork burrito which I had commented on earlier. The burrito was generous with all of the ingredients and the comment that was shared with us was that it was really excellent. I wanted to share this to show that my 1 off experience appears to have been truly a 1 off. It can happen and shouldn't be considered the norm as was proven to us.More

We went here for dinner and the food was different but very good. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff was friendly, the drinks were good and so was the food. I had the shrimp bowl and my husband had a cheese quesadilla which was...huge. I would recommend and would go back.More

Been almost 4 years since we there with COVID and quarantine getting in the way, so it was good to be back! We were having a great time during happy hour (4-6pm) and the place was packed. Chowder, quesadilla, cheesecake. When we went to pay...the bill with our Visa card, their system was down, and we didn't have enough cash to cover the tab. I had to leave my wife at the bar while I drove down Rte 1, 2 miles, to the nearest ATM. Awkward but doable! Still glad we went and we will go back with a wad of cash next time. It must have been a long night for staff having to deal with that condition. They were all apologetic and we still gave a sizeable tip! Bring cash when you go! Not a bad spot for drinks, actually pretty good. However, if you're going to eat, it's not a place I recommend. Tonight I had a pulled pork burrito with 1 side. The burrito was 98% rice, 1% romaine lettuce, and 1% pulled pork. You could...barely see or taste any pork at all. An absolute disgrace. Others in the party had an ahi tuna appetizer, shrimp poke bowl, and a chicken poke bowl, all of which was just ok but no wow factor. Good enough place for drinks, but you can do so much better elsewhere for food.More

We arrived just before end end of happy hour and our bartender/waiter was friendly about accommodating us with drinks at half price. It was a good start to a fun meal. I indicated that I needed to eat gluten free due to an allergy and...a GF menu was produced. Nothing makes me more pleased that a mom-and-pop restaurant having its own GF menu! We started with chips and guacamole with a very healthy portion of guac given what we are seeing at most restaurants. The chips are bottomless, but we didn't fill up on these. My wife had a salad with salmon and I had a jerk chicken bowl. My bowl was tamely spiced for a jerk meal, but very flavorful. We also had more drinks. Everything was good about this meal. The food and drinks were delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful. The prices were reasonable. At present, the restaurant is only open Fri-Sun for dinner, but we are here for a week, so we'll likely return again on Friday before we depart. We'll probably watch a baseball game in the bar and make an evening of it. If you want an unpretentious meal meal in a fun atmosphere, we do recommend Hooks.More

This spot is a laid back beach themed restaurant and bar . Combo covered and inside seating gives many options. Great food and friendly staff . A definite place to get a great meal , cold drink , and a place to enjoy family and...friends. Great local talent there too ! Enjoy your Summer !More

Great atmosphere, great staff, great food! Our only complaint was that one night we ordered the grilled haddock sandwich without the cajun seasoning. Delicious!! We came back two nights later and ordered the same sandwich but was told we could not get the grilled haddock...sandwich without the cajun season. Disappointed, but we ordered something else that was delicious. We recommend the Hook!!!More

This place is great! Great happy hour and excellent food and service. Relaxed atmosphere and outdoor area for bar and tables. Has covered area in case of inclement weather. It’s behind a surf shop so it can be overlooked if you don’t have the area...it’s in.More

Visited Hook's for 5th time this season, gets better each time. Love the laid back atmosphere, great drinks, good food and good music! Young hostess Grace is adorable and great personality for the front of the house!
