I have been in the Bread and Roses Bakery on Main Street many times...always wonderful...always delicious. They now have a sales space on Route 1 in Wells with a walk-up window where you order and pay...and you take out. Staff is great...very friendly...and helpful. I...ordered a few pastries...including blueberry lemon scones...moist yet crumbly...just the right combination of tart and sweet. And I got a loaf of herb bread...heavenly toasted!!! Very pleasant stop...I'll be back. Enjoy!More

I ordered online through Goldbelly. The package arrived in perfect shape. The treats were very good. The Whoopie Pies were amazing. Loved it.

Due to Covid our B & B was not making in-house breakfast but sent us over to Bread & Roses on them. Also due to Covid, the number of people allowed in the bakery at one time was limited to 4 and there was always...a line so I tried to make a decision about what to have in a reasonable amount of time but - it was sooo hard!! Everywhere you look were incredible delights- cookies, scones, muffins, bread! So hard to choose. One thing that was easy was choosing the coffee I like- very dark and rich. Thunderbolt did not disappoint. As for the pastries and other tempting selections we had to go back in the afternoon to sample something else. It was all good!More

my husband and I were looking for Starbucks, but NO NEED to when you visit here! Way better than Starbucks. I had the chai tea latte (I went back for 2nd's) and a blueberry muffin. Best Chai Tea latte i've ever had.

Arrived on a Thursday mid afternoon and requested a blueberry pie. I was told that there was one, it was boxed, then I purchased it and left money in the tip jar. I drove to Dover for a family get together... as I cut into...the pie, it was clear that it was a raspberry pie not a blueberry pie! Very disappointing, as I requested and paid for a blueberry pie. Not only was it the wrong pie, it was too tart for my family's liking--very disappointing!More

Dear Smart Cookie, Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We obviously made a mistake, and for that I am truly sorry. We didn’t intentionally try to ruin your dinner and provide a “too tart” pie for your family. My number - which you...More

We went almost EVERY DAY for coffee, hot chocolate & pastries. Everything was delicious! Sometimes the line is long but it moves fast. The chocolate chip cookie is huge & flavorful! The apple turnover was one of mu favorites too!

Stopped in on a rainy Saturday morning. Nice selection of pastries and nice fresh coffee. Place is well laid out to support social distancing.

One of the best bakeries I can recall ever visiting. The social activism signs around the store were enough to draw me in, and make me happy to give them my money… But the spectacular food is what will bring me back many times in...the future. The Maine blueberry Whoopie pie, and the Funny Bone (peanut butter/chocolate) cake, are two of the best things I’ve ever eaten, period. My wife and I have tried numerous Whoopie pies over the years, probably a few different dozen different vendors… But this was incredible, unique, and delicious. I am not a big fan of blueberries, but even I would say this is perhaps the best Whoopie pie I’ve ever had. The texture and flavor as were both perfect. Same could be said of the chocolate/peanut butter cake. Just enough sweetness and saltiness to balance each other out, addictive and wonderful. Highly recommended!More
