We were looking for a late lunch on a Saturday. Many Ogunquit restaurants are closed between 2:30-4:00. We saw Brix & Brine and decided to give it a try because their menu looked interesting. It took about 45 minutes to get a table, since their...capacity is very limited by Covid spacing, but it was well worth the wait! My wife had the Caprese toasts and I had the lobster toasts- both incredible! It was a very hot day and nearly all of their seats were under umbrellas...with a light breeze, it was very nice. It’s also not on the main road, RT 1, so it’s much quieter...still a noisy motorcycle once in awhile, but no biggie. The table was not level at all...which is an easy fix, but they didn’t seem to bother. Oh well, you can’t have everything! Highly recommend Brix & Brine...you won’t be disappointed.More
Brix + Brine is sandwiched between two buildings and provides only outdoor dining under umbrellas. We stopped here for dinner and were pleasantly surprised to be able to sit outdoors, out of the way of pedestrian traffic, but still be able to watch the parade...of people on the sidewalk. We had dinner one night and lunch the next day. On both visits the service was very good and the servers were friendly, helpful and courteous.
The setting is very pleasant with tiny lights strung underneath the umbrellas and an LED candle on each table. However, I suggest you bring a small flashlight to read the menu at night to avoid running down your cell phone battery. While we were enjoying our drinks and reading the menu we saw a platter of haddock being served at the next table. It looked so good we both decided to order it. I have never had fried haddock that I enjoyed so much. The haddock was cooked to perfection and the lightly battered crust was superb: thin and extremely crispy to the point where it almost shattered when cut. Fantastic! One of us ordered mashed potatoes which were deliciously flavored and had good texture. The French fries with Old Bay seasoning were very flavorful, crisp outside and fluffy inside. This was definitely a memorable dinner.
Since we enjoyed our dinner so much we returned the next day for a late lunch. The seafood chowder was delicious and loaded with clams and large chunks of shrimp and lobster. The market salad was made with an assortment of fresh greens and topped with sunflower seeds and paper thin slices of cucumber and radishes. I seldom eat radishes since they are usually bitter but these radishes were actually sweet. The salad also included bits of other vegetables. The dressing was and lightly coated everything nicely without drowning the salad. My only complaints are that there were not enough vegetables and some of the veggies were nothing more than tiny pieces and I would have preferred larger slices. Having said this, the salad was so good that I would not hesitate to order it again. We definitely plan to dine here on our next trip to Maine.More
Stopped here for lunch because we were tired from walking. Cute little outdoor cafe. Our table was slightly unbalanced . I had crabmeat on gluten free bread which was ok I expected the meat to be sweet & tasty but it was a little bland....The restroom was outside the kitchen & awkward waiting to use it had to keep moving out of the way. Ok for a quick bite but wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here.More
Lobster roll made with tarragon, lots of lobster, best lobster roll I had and I had one daily. Pasta dish with shrimp and sausage very good. Dog friendly ( which I enjoyed seeing the animals.) Does not serve coffee, our waitress had a little attitude.
Have been eating here for years. Food and service are always very good. Comfort food at its best with some twists. It’s outdoor seating so bring a sweater for evenings in September. Have never been disappointed.
We have just arrived in Ogonquit and passed Brix and Brine on an afternoon walk. It seemed perfect so we returned for dinner under the stars - well really, under their large umbrella, but outdoors.
They had an adequate beer/wine menu and we were particularly...looking for lobster rolls, which were delicious. The fries were the first good ones on New England in weeks! The lobster rolls were delicious.
Nothing about the evening disappointed us except that we had eaten too much!More
