Good apres ski spot

Took family for dinner. A bit pricey - took 3 teenagers and I didn't drink. My husband had one beer - tab was over $200. the nachos were outstanding, perfectly crispy with chili and not too much cheese. The pizza lacked sauce and was a bit overdone. The beet salad was outstanding!!!

Great Apres stop

We stopped in for lunch after a few hours in spring skiing conditions. Really great food and super friendly service. We had the calamari appetizer, followed by the broccoli and chicken alfredo and a monte rosa pizza. All were very good, and I can't say enough good things about the pizza. It had the perfect combo of light, chewy and crispy. Definitely a spot to come back to.

Perfect ski bar

We stopped in twice for food & drink during our February week at Sunday River. First, recommend that you arrive by five. It’s relatively quiet but hopping & jumping by six. Nice live acoustic music in the bar. Food and drinks were great. Owner Matt stopped by our table and was very nice and down to earth. The wood fired pizza was tasty as was the Caribbean burger.

Dinner after skiing

Met a group for dinner after skiing Presidents’ Day week. Was crazy busy. Told wait was 45 minutes which was expected. 30 minutes in they buzzed our group so we left the table we had snagged at the bar. But they didn’t have a table for us, just wanted to ask a question. So we lost our table at the bar, stupid. Final wait was about an hour which was not surprising on one of the busiest days of the year. What was surprising was we waited at least an hour, possibly 90 minutes for our food. The place had largely cleared out by the time our food arrived. The waitress never came over with an update and actively tried to avoid us. And the kicker was a supervisor of some kind threw out a comment as he was passing by after our food arrived that the pizza oven had been backed up. Except that only one out of 8 or 9 people had pizza. And that pizza wasn’t even right. Looked like they had run out of pizza dough and threw in a premade frozen pizza as a last resort. I get that it was a crazy busy night so just communicate with us. We were a very reasonable, understanding group all things considered. And then the waitress tells us that for our trouble they took the lone pizza off the bill.....what a crock....it was a frozen pizza....how about a round of drinks or a couple of free desserts? No, they wanted us out of there as quickly as possible. Ironically my burger was ok and everyone else seemed to like their food though a couple of orders were missing things and needed to be corrected. I’m Giving it 2 stars because the food was decent but the service was soooooooo bad that I probably would only hit this place again asa last resort.

Obnoxious food prices

We’ve been coming to the Matterhorn since 2012, unfortunately the quality has gone down and the price of food has gone up, $33.00 for steak tip dinner is laughable, and that’s just one price. Seems ownership is hoping to cash in on weekend visitors and day trippers, not the true Sunday River alums so to speak. It’s a shame because the atmosphere is top notch for ski bar/restaurant and the food quality and prices used to be good. My recommendation is for them to make the prices more reasonable, but seems greed is taking over, or at least that’s the perception I have of the establishment when I look at the ridiculous prices. Not as Good as in the Past

We were disappointed in this meal, even though the restaurant has been one of our favorites over the years. The food was good, but much pricier than we were expecting, and the atmosphere remains a great draw, pure funky ski bar. But we felt we were not treated well by our server and that can make a big difference. It was very cold at our table, and our questions about this problem just brought sarcasm from our server. My husband's favorite appetizer was not on the menu and the server claimed it had never been offered "in years". Other shortcomings will probably sound petty but when you are cold and already sorry about your choice of where to eat, they seemed like a big deal.

Nice decor, bland food, surly waitress

I went here with a group. It started out fine, with a nice selection of beer. Then we asked a few questions about the menu, and the server got snippy with us. We ordered and received our meals, but we didn’t see much of her after that. She also got the dressing on my salad wrong. The food was pretty bland with one exception- the ribs were good. The poor service really turned me off. There are too many good places in Bethel to come back here. For food, suds pub beats the pants off this place.

Fun ski-themed bar with good food.

Not much else was open on a Sunday night and it turned out to our advantage. Don’t think we would have otherwise stopped at Matterhorn and that would have been unfortunate. These days we can all use a bright spot. Matterhorn ski bar is one. Lots of food and drink choices. Lots to look at on the walls. No Sunday a River ski week should go by without stopping in.

Always good food, great staff and a great bar!!

Now THIS is a fun place to go! We have been coming here for many, many years. You can't go wrong. Staff is always accommodating and friendly. Food is always consistently good and the bar area is a fun time! Great for families or couples!

Wonderful apres ski

Great food, fast and friendly service. Wonderful apres ski. They didn’t take reservations (thank goodness). Walked in post skiing and sat quickly with group of 8. Pizza and wings were really good. Salad was good. Kids liked their kids meal. Beer selection was good. Definitely stop. Felt COVID safe.

Used to be one of the best!

This “ski bar” is never open?!? 2:30 on St Patrick’s day and the door is locked! I am a local and I belong to their mug club! Very sad for the Bethel area! It used to be a 5 star ski bar but not anymore! Such a bummer!

Great staff Great Food

Awesome management took care of us even though they were having a staff problem. Food was awesome. Great location close to Sunday river Highly recommend it.

It was open with good safe tables including plexiglass separations. Don't get the garlic knots. Dry, over priced, tasteless balls. Fish and chips was not huge but tasty. Decor is fun.

**GREAT GROUP ACTIVITY **

Visiting Sunday River with a ski club we ate one of our dinners here..We had pizza for the entire group.. The variety and quality was fantastic!
