the setting for the restaurant is wonderful, and the sunsets amazing. It is a very popular place and often gets rather large parties, which can be noisy. It is a 20 minute drive from downtown Bar Harbor. We had a window table and the view was terrific. Our waitress was friendly and very helpful. None of us had lobster, but... More

This is an out of the way place from Bar Harbor but worth the drive. It is a family owned restaurant only open 11 weeks a year. The setting outside over looking a bay of lake is great. Lobster rolls are the best in the area. Bloody' are good but no extra horseradish available.

It,s quiet a bit mre refined that the typical Down-east lobstah pound, but still authentic. The family style service is great and the food is consistently good. Sit outside, weather and bugs permitting, for the best result.

The location is beautiful, right on the bay, with both indoor and outdoor tables. The steamers and lobster were both delicious. A bit pricey, but definitely worth a visit.

Abel's does an understandably busy business. Yes, they excel in Lobster (Freshly cooked, cooked in a number of ways and !! Don't forget to try the lobster salad (solid lobster meet) Also, peruse the rest of the menu as there are many (delicious) choices. Don't be put of by the drive down to the restaurant which is in a boat... More

I had an opportunity to bring my family from out of state to experience a genuine Maine lobster dinner. While we were having dinner, we had to listen to the loud, obnoxious bartender with all the facial piercings. His vocabulary and behavior lacked proper hospitality etiquette. A very unpleasant experience. This is NO place to bring your elderly parents or... More

Best lobster anywhere. Period. Great blueberry pie. Although they offer seating on the lawn, indoors is better. Have i mentioned that it has the *best* lobster?

Most lobster pounds are ramshackle, roadside affairs with no atmosphere. We sat outside in a beautiful setting on the edge of the woods, overlooking a small harbor. While excellent, the lobsters are a little pricey. The 20 minute drive is well worth it to get away from the tourist bustle of Bar Harbor.

Good food.....great views. Spectacular location on the sound with friendly staff. Many ways to get lobster and surprisingly nice prime rib.

My family and I ate at Abel's primarily for nostalgic reasons as we grew up in Maine and had fond memories of lobster dinners as children. We ate outside at a picnic table and it is certainly a lovely setting with the water right there and boats on the sound. We all had lobster, potatoes, corn on the cob and... More
