We stopped for lunch and happy that we did. My son loved the seafood pasta and their haddock chowder that I had was very good; big chucks of fish and potatoes. Our waitress was busy but didn't seem so when she was helping us; very...friendly with a smile. Service 5+ We would definitely eat here again if ever in the area.More
Great local restaurant! The fresh Haddock chowder is wonderful and gluten free. I am GF so this is where to eat in Machias. The chowder is filled with haddock and very good. I also had the lobster roll without the roll and it was very...fresh. They do have GF buns, but I prefer to go without. My husband had the combo shrimp and scallops which he enjoyed. However, he is still talking about the fresh blueberry pie! The piece must have had a pint of fresh Maine blueberries in it. Try the chowder and pie!!More
Stopped in on Monday for dinner. Busy as most restaurants in area are closed on Monday. Nice fresh salads. Very generous portions. The fried haddock was nicely done. Service was exceptional. Nothing glamorous or gourmet but solid quality offerings.
First of all, the wait staff were so friendly and attentive. We ate there four times and each time the food was delicious. My favorite dinner what is the crab cakes Packed with crab meat, incredibly light and flavorful.
We always took a dessert home...with us after each meal except for tonight’s dinner were we shared a scrumptious slice of blueberry pie à la mode.More
This was our third time at this restaurant in the last 5 years. But EVERY time we pass through Machias THIS will now be our choice. WONDERFUL haddock sandwich, fish chowder and raspberry pie (pricey for rural Maine @ $7 but yummy).

Breakfast is fabulous at the Bluebird! The omelettes are great and so are their homemade donuts that are made in Sundays (I highly recommend the coconut ;-)). Go hungry because they serve large portions.
