We ordered “aloo palak” and “chicken makhani” (butter chicken) and then ensured we had worst Indian food in a long time . We asked spice level to be medium , but “aloo palak” was so spice that we can take a bite without gulping it...with water . Chicken Makhni was even worse with unmarinated and unseasoned boiled chicken cubicles swimming in a tomato gravy . Sir , that’s not chicken makhni . Clearly they don’t have any idea about what is Indian food or cuisine.More

Decided to try them out for first time and was sorely disappointed. We ordered the chicken mango, chicken biryani, mango lassi, and one of their breads with chicken. The chicken in all the dishes smelled weird and tasted awful. The mango lassi was too sweet...and was missing the spices/toppings that made it authentic. Just tasted like a sugary mango smoothie. We were hoping to have a dine in experience but even after Covid restrictions were lifted they still were only offering takeout options. Definitely not eating from here again. The Indian restaurants in Brunswick and Portland were way better.More

I had eating take out food from this restaurant years ago and thought is was really good. We went for a special dinner and I was sorely disappointed. The food did not seem to be fresh. It was grey and dingy. The food was bland...and tasteless and the Nan seemed like greasy pita bread with toppings. Never again.More

Every time when we get to visit Lewiston, ME we think about eating at this place (Mother India)! We ate at this restaurant 3 times w/in the past 4 years - the food is super authentic Indian, spicy and very pleasant. The staff is friendly...and professional. We never have yet tried their buffet on Sundays, so the next time when would travel to Lewiston again we hope to try it...at last.More

Visited while traveling for work. The owner was super warm and welcoming. Order Makni Chicken and Nav Rattan Korma. Both were delicious! The korma had a fantastic assortment of vegetables that were perfectly cooked! Can't wait to come back.

Visiting in the area and looking for a change, we visited Mother India. Oh my goodness, this was the BEST Indian food I have ever had! The spices were complex and interesting. The food was perfectly done. The service was excellent. We will be back!

Always helpful with menu suggestions and everything I've had has been great. Been there about 5+ times now, looking forward to going back for a quiet local and pleasant atmosphere.

Not having experienced India food, we went for the midweek lunch buffet. The buffet is limited in number of offerings, but a good selections in a range of spiciness. Staff was gracious in explaining, and 'hot' dishes are posted. We will be returning to try...the Sunday buffet later in the month.More

Mother India is one of my favorite places. The food is fresh, delicious, and the servings are generous. Saag Paneer, Chicken Tikka Masala, Naan, Mango Lassis -- all delicious. I also love how the restaurant opened because people from the town started a campaign to...get an Indian Restaurant to come and open.More
