First time visit. I had the tom yum soup with chicken and the beef Pad thai, and both were great! One of my pet peeves is when I have similar dishes at other Asian restaurants, often the chicken or beef has no flavor or seems...past its prime, but in this case, the meats had a distinctive taste and were very tender, maybe because they're cooked 'fresh' and not reheated. The tom yum soup's broth was also delicious. The portions were ample and the prices were quite reasonable. The atmosphere is simple and nice, with two dining levels. I was here for lunch right after the Christmas Prelude festivities, so it was calm, but in chatting with the owner, I was told they're extremely busy during the tourist season (which is roughly nine months in Kennebunkport) and also do a robust take-out business all year long. We are regular customers at Mehkong Thai and the quality of the food is consistently excellent. This is a small restaurant and it gets swamped in the summer with the tourist population. We do not 'eat in' here as the seating is very limited. We...do take out. They do a good job of managing expectations regarding the wait time which has been significantly higher lately most likely because so many people are doing curbside. Highly recommended. Be prepared for a wait but the quality is worth it.More

Had the dumplings and Mekhong Rice so delicious. Staff is superb. Easy to find and even if it’s take out it’s still good

Wow - great food! We ordered three different dishes (all I remember is my shrimp pad Thai), but one had tofu and one had pork, extra spicy. Everything was terrific. During COVID, there’s no dining in, but it didn’t matter.

We like thai food, particularly as you can get some nice vegetarian and vegan food. Unfortunately the good from here was a bit disappointing. Service was mediocre.

Came on the advice of our inn keeper Memorial Day weekend and had a wonderful meal. Have been driving by this place for years. Unassuming on the outside the food is excellent. The service was awesome. Highly recommended for delicious perfectly sauced food.

It’s a surprise that I’ve found this good Thai restaurant in Kennebunkport Maine. Much better than some Thai restaurants I had in Southern California. Food is not too salty.

Our first night we ate here and had a great meal. Best fried rice we ever had ! The staff was extremely friendly and made sure we were satisfied with our meals.

Needed something other than seafood and heavy meals. Thai and veggies seemed right. Small place with one server, not crowded. Food was quite good. Chicken was fresh and high quality, wide noodles thick and good mouth feel. Veggies were fresh with bright flavors.

Wednesday’s lunch was a disappointment. It took 25 minutes to get two simple lunch specials and there was only one other party of two in the restaurant. Worse, the meals were delivered separately, between five and 10 minutes apart, so my son had nearly finished...his pad Thai before I received my drunken noodles. As for the food itself, nothing great. Both dishes were served without any accompaniment. The pad Thai did have a couple twigs of limp parsley, but it was the most uninteresting pad Thai we had tasted in years. Additionally, it was very wet, as if the chef had forgotten to drain the noodles that he had just cooked (perhaps the reason for the delay). At one point, my son’s feeding motion caused a tidal-wave of liquid in all directions, including his new thermal shirt and the dirty wall needing repair by the window. For me, the drunken noodles were okay as was the tofu, but the dish would have been a lot better with more vegetables. Lunch prices were reasonable, but unlike other Thai restaurants, there was no soup, dumplings, eggrolls, or chicken satay skewer delivered before or with the meal. The only freebie that we did receive were the double bag of Chinese fortune cookies - something that made us wonder if Mekhong suffered from restaurant identity confusion syndrome. Your results may vary, but Cherry Wonderdog was not impressed.More
