This place has such charm and character. It's great. And the lobster roll was fantastic. We really enjoyed this restaurant and would definitely go back.

Four of us had dinner at this fun spot last night under the steady gaze of Wilbur the gigantic lobster statue outside. The great: service from Ruth, the hostess, and Jill, the waitress; the steamed lobster tail quartet dinner, complete with generous baked potato and well cooked fresh broccoli; the 12" lobster sub with cole slaw; and the fun ambiance... The menu is so extensive anyone can find what they like. The kids enjoyed watching the lobsters and steamers being cooked before their eyes. The wood fire, the seafood, and outdoor seating, provided a feast for the senses.

En route to Bangor from Winter Harbor and the Schoodic Peninsula, I stopped at Ruth & Wimpy’s on Route 1.. Their sign said: We catch the big ones. There is indoor or outdoor seating. I took outdoor seating on the deck in a booth. I got the scallop roll with ridged potato chips at $8.95. It was SEAFOOD DONE RIGHT!... More

Lobster roll is one of the best in Maine. Plenty of lobster meat with just a touch of mayo. Also, a great deal with either chips or fries. Lobster dinners are also a good value. Wait staff is quite friendly. Both Ruth and Wimpy are down home folk and very nice. Would definitely recommend.

This restaurant was recommended by locals and they were right. They have a very large menu and fun things to choose from. The lobster dinner special was the most affordable we came across. We all tried something different on the menu and we were not disappointed I would absolutely stop here again

We arrived to make a reservation for that night. A waitress walked by us once and said "I'll be with you in a second". OK. Well, we waited 5 more minutes. She walked by again and said the same thing. OK, we waited 5 or 10 minutes more. Meanwhile, waitresses are walking across in front of us, the whole time,... More

Description
A great rusticated Maine restaurant where you can get a reasonably priced lobsta dinner and the best homemade pie anywhere. The personnel are always great and Wimpy is a neat guy. I love it there. No trip to Bar Harbor is complete without a stop at Ruth & Wimpy's (and I haven't got a dime in this).
