After visiting Freeport we took route 1 back to Portland. We discovered this roadside stand and were excited to see it was a custard stand. We are from the Midwest, currently living in Florida and have not had a custard since leaving "up North". They have the standard vanilla and chocolate but also have special flavors that rotate in and... More

Great little place for a sweat treat! There is a wide variety of treats - ice cream, shakes, sundaes, etc. and the portions are fairly big.

We got all excited when we saw the sign for this place while driving to do some shopping in Freeport. We actually came back after shopping for an ice cream fix. We tried the swirl soft serve and a chocolate custard. I never knew custard could be scooped like that. I always thought it was like soft serve. Anyways we... More

I actually traveled quite a ways to go here, because they make the ice cream sound very good. They call it custard as though that is something special, which it is not, any decent ice cream is made with a custard base, that is what ice cream IS. I got strawberry ice cream (a hard choice out of their FOUR... More

Good Custard. I wish there were more flavors. Nice portion sizes. Small is all you need! lol. Very nice service. Kids enjoyed immensely.

Ice cream is good, but I've had far better. A bit on the 'gummy' side and too sweet. It is made with eggs but I've had better rich ice cream.

a great New England local ice cream place. Great flavors, prices were fair. Huge parking lot and plenty of tables.

Don't listen to those dummies who say that they have had better custard. I have had custard all of my life and Mainely Custard is among the best I have ever had. Perfectly smooth and never too sweet. Just perfect! We must have eaten this custard 5 times over the 8 days that we were in there area. Don't miss... More

It's always hard to review a place when the day before you've had your first custard and it was amazing. In comparison, this fell just a bit short. They offer the three standard flavors - vanilla, chocolate & strawberry and one special of the day which was black cherry the day we visited. I tried both the chocolate (I thought... More

Favorite cold treat for many miles. Prefer this custard to the many gelatos around. From the plain chocolate to the turtle sundae you can't go wrong!! We bring all of our visiting family and friends here, and once they go once, they all have yo go back, only complaint is they close too early.
