On a solo visit, I tried the Lobster bisque, which was served as a main dish, with salad and two dinner rolls. It tasted great and was very creamy, with enough lobster, though there were some lumps of thickened flour in a few spots. The...More

Years ago this was the place. The craft brew scene was limited and this place had what every craft beer drinker wanted... damn good beer. There service was also correlated with the beer - it was good. Couldn't be better. I have gone several times...More

Stopped here for lunch on our way north. My husband really enjoyed his lobster roll and chowder and beer - clearly their specialties. The rest of us ate American food (hamburger, philly) and were not as impressed. The food was adequate, but the hamburger was...More

This restaurant is very nice inside and out. We were not able to sit outside due to the bugs, it was 7pm when we arrived. They have there own micro brews and a full flight includes 10 samples, two cask beers and one cider. All...More

So the three generations of John (I'm the third, so my dad and grandfather) were taking a long trip across Maine for the day to visit Owl's Head Transportation Museum. We're from Mass, but grandpa John owns a cottage in Wakefield NH. Either way a...More

The food is excellent, the surrounding are long log picnic tables varnished with a few tables for 4. You can eat inside or on the patio. The food is more than bar food and is a full menu. The food is great and the menu...More

We love Grittys in Freeport. Great pub food and more, lots of lobster specials, friendly staff, perfect selection of beers and drinks, and beer tanks within view. The deck overlooking a play area bustling with kids is the place to be in the summer. Quick...More

I remember when Gritty's first opened. It was a great place. Now it is a little run down. The food is still great but the bathroom could use a stick of dynamite. They are listed as dog friends but what they mean is that you...More

Gritty McDuff's, Maine's Original Brew Pub specializes in hand-crafted English style ales and traditional and creative pub fare, in a friendly and fun atmosphere. Both Gritty's fine ales and the pubs have won countless "best of" awards through our twenty-six years of operation. Our standard brews are session beers, Gritty's Pub-Style Pale Ale, McDuff's Best Bitter, Black Fly Stout, allowing one to have multiple beers within a reasonable time period without overwhelming the senses. Our seasonal and varietal ale offerings are more adventurous, some with a higher ABV, and some with higher IBU. We brew a beer for all craft brew palates. For the diner, we offer traditional pub fare alongside not so traditional specialty items. Our pub-style long tables with benches easily accommodate parties of all sizes and add to the camaraderie.
