As most other reviews say, The Purple Cow breakfast was huge and delicious! My husband and I shared the House Breakfast, 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 sausages, and 2 bacon strips; it was more than we could eat! Not only are the pancakes as big...as a plate, they are also about twice as thick as a typical pancake. Everything tasted great, and it was clean and friendly. We highly recommend the Purple Cow!More

Stopped with my family. The food was excellent and lots of it. The pancakes were as big as the plate. I had two, eggs and bacon. Could only eat one since it was so big. Highly recommend this place. Make sure you come hungry.

The pancakes really ARE huge. Wow. Well cooked and yummy. The monte christo was also good. Lots of choices. My coffee cup never went dry. Waitress was professional and friendly. Food came quickly.

We stopped Sunday morning for breakfast just before the rush (apparently). The pancakes are fantastic and the bacon was cooked "just right". I highly recommend the Purple Cow! We stop every year when we visit Maine.

What can I say about the Purple Cow? My wife and I have eaten at this restaurant for almost 20 years for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and have seen faces come and go. There are some that have been here at least as long as...we have been eating here. (Brenda, Violet, just to name a couple). My wife and I had another great breakfast this morning. A Sunday morning treat for us. (long overdue). We arrived about 5:30am, only to find it not opening until 6am on Sundays(our fault as we did not know Sunday's hours start 1 hour later than the rest of the days). We decided to just sit there and watch the sun come up, and go over what we were going to order anticipating enjoying another meal here at the Purple Cow. We had studied the menu online, so we knew what we wanted to order before we went inside. I knew a wanted their home fries (real, not frozen) a couple of eggs over easy, crispy bacon and a grilled english muffin. My wife wanted eggs over easy, home fries, sausage and multigrain toast. At 6am we jumped out of car(well maybe not "jumped" and headed inside and picked out a table. Brenda was quick to bring us a menu and , we told her our order without even looking at all the other menu items. As we were waiting for our coffees, the restaurant began to fill in with a lot of their regular customers(we recognized from previous trips). Brenda was back in no time with our hot coffees. If you haven't had the pleasure of eating at the Purple Cow yet, when you get inside there are lots of posters on the walls with interesting little slogans on them, which keeps you busy while your waiting for your food to arrive. While we were waiting, another waitress came by to ask us if we wanted to top off our coffees. In just a few minutes, Brenda brought us our plates of food and asked if wanted anything else, we said no we just wanted to "dig into" anticipated food. During our meal the restaurant continued to begin filling in with other hungry customers, and Brenda came back by to see if everything was alright and see if we needed anything else. We told her the eggs on my wife's plate was not quite done. She apologized said that she would order a couple more eggs, and was back with them in a jiffy. Our food was perfect, service was great as usual. We love this place, and even tho we don't eat here every week like we have prior to this "virus" thing that has changed how we live. I would recommend trying the Purple Cow, you will find an extensive menu with lots of items to satisfy almost anyone's hunger. Enjoy good food, and good sized portions(don't be surprised if you need a to go container) at fair prices, and great service! Bring your appetite! Thank you for many years of great food & service. We look forward to our next visit. Chris & Sharon DelanoMore

My three year old daughter can whip up a breakfast far better than the Purple Cow...omelettes are watery ..what they call French toast is sin..and the pancakes can be used as a weapon by flinging them across the room...horrible But people love stuffing their face...and feel they get a lot of food for the dollar I guess..plus they must not have anyone at home who can flip an egg..I get I guessMore

Not impressed. We love supporting local businesses, however we will not be back to support this one. We stopped in to get our breakfast to go. Something quick and easy or so we thought. An English muffin with fried egg, ham and cheese. The bottom...of the muffin was soaked in juice from the ham so much the juice was just sitting in the to go container, and the ham was cold. A fried buffalo chicken sandwich plain with homemade onion rings. The chicken was grilled and had lettuce and tomato on it I'm not sure when the fried or plain was missed from order to kitchen.the onion rings tasted like they had been cooked with fish, not too appetizing. Hopefully others will have better luck.More

Purple Cow is an epic diner - it's the real deal. Huge plates of food, massive pancakes that are delicious. Great value for the price. However the service isn't very fast so if you're in a hurry this should not be your first choice.

At the recommendation of our son (Colby College student) we went to Purple Cow for breakfast. He had told us how he loves everything there and the portions are huge. He is correct! We had a table of four. We ordered single pancakes along with...omelettes, sausage and biscuit, and corned beef hash and eggs. When our waitress brought the food and asked if we needed anything else, “another table for all the food” was my reply. We all enjoyed everything and had plenty of leftovers. Great home cooking!More

This restaurant is not shy regarding the hardy portions they serve. In decades past it was a must stop after an early duck hunting adventure on the Kennebec River flyway. Widely known for their breakfast menu.prompt service and delivery. You will likely walk away pleasantly...satisfied and stuffed. Not viewed it as a destination venue and never understood the reasoning for the odd name they selected but if you can get past the unrelated nonsensical aspects and the spartan decor I am confident that you will certainly enjoy the experience and return again. A mere 3/4 mile off of Interstate 95 exit 133 . Rt. 201 southbound.More

We went to lunch. I ordered steak & cheese sub, add onions, peppers & mushrooms. OMG it was awful. The meat was absolutely awful. The waitress just dropped the meal and never came back to see how things were. I flagged her down for our...check and she looked at my plate, I ate one bite. I told her the meal was not good and she smile and said have a nice day and walked away!!! Our bill was $24.78 ...Guess we will never be going there again.More
