If you want to take your time and relax, drink a few ales or ciders, this is the place to go. It only accommodates about 25 patrons. The bartender is also the waiter/waitress so you have to be patient. You should try the English selections. We all had the steak and ale pie. Even though one was burnt, the waitress made sure it wasn’t served and promptly brought another order. I respect that kind of service. The pastry was very good. Remember, don’t go here if you are in a hurry for food...but go relax and drink some excellent brew.

Thank you for the review. As part of our pandemic response the team decided it was better to reduce staff exposure to multiple staff on the same shift especially in a small pub. Everything is home cooked at the facility which can lead to an occasional delay but hopefully not too long while you enjoy the environment of the pub. We like your comment "Relax and Drink some excellent brew" Cheers G

I have not had a Shephard's pie outside of England better than the one at Airline Brewing Pub. We were traveling from Anna Maria Island, FL, to visit family and ended up eating at the pub a couple of times while in the area. I don't drink beer but there was a really nice wine selection. My husband loved the bangers and mash and had a beer sampler which he really enjoyed.

Seems most times I have stopped by lately there is a conversation at the bar between employees regarding ordering food and the cost and what can be changed the customer. Not what I’m interested in sort of turns my appetite off!! An extremely tattooed and pierced group. Guess more of a ‘biker bar’. It used to be more middle of the road! Miss the old Pub.

They do not have a standard reservation or a way to place your name on a waiting list…instead you’re told to come back in a half hour. In the meantime anybody can walk in a take the table that was ear marked for you. When the server screams at you for asking if one of the two empty tables may be ready in the next 15 minutes…that’s a Restaurant that will not be getting my business, and I would suggest not yours either.

Dear NJ5 - We are a small year round pub - we welcome everybody and anybody. They are welcome to stay as long as they want - enjoy a pint, steak & ale pie, Sticky toffee pudding. Or have a cup of tea and play a game of cribbage. Never do we chase people out of seats so we can turn a table. So you are right we do not have reservations or a waiting list but we do try to accommodate every one as safely as possible. I regret that this causes you so much anxiety and unhappiness to warrant calling our servers nasty and recommend people don't at least try the pub. We wish you all the best and hope you found a restaurant in the peak of summer that could look after you. Cheers G

We stopped in here for dinner after hiking at Acadia. The place is very small, but service and food were excellent. The red ale was amazing! The strawberry rhubarb and raspberry & mint beers are worth a try. We love finding local pubs and this one definitely didn't disappoint.

Thanks Bonnie. Very pleased you enjoyed the beer and pub grub. The Red Ale is very popular and nice to hear we did a good local (as we say back home). Cheers G

We hiked 8.2 miles in Acadia National Park. We were tired and we were very hungry when we walked into this restaurant. Lots of people, nice atmosphere even though the room is not very big. They have typical pub food. We had spinach dip with chips; clam chowder soup; stuffed potato skin; 'jammin blue burger'. The negative part was that we had to wait longer than usual. But I understand that they cooked everything well and it took time. Everything tasted fresh and very well prepared. If you are up-to good beer and good food, we would recommend this place.

We recently came here for dinner. My partner had the Shepherds' Pie. Other than everything being overly peppered the taste was good, but the quantity of meat should be increased as well as the other ingredients... I had the Bangers and Mash. Again, a huge amount of pepper in the potatoes overpowered the taste of the meal. The vegetables were frozen - not fresh and only lukewarm.

Oh my...first things first: The beer. Airline Brewing routinely has FOUR beers on cask, and a couple on nitro, in addition to their list of regular pours. The Oatmeal Stout on nitro is smooth, creamy and delicious. The "Irish Envy" is a white Stout with strong coffee overtones that is equally delicious (would love to see this on nitro!). Finally, the Irish Export is as fine a beer as I've tasted anywhere. The food is very, very good. Since discovering this place during an extended stay in the Bar Harbor region, we've now visited three times, and probably will go back again. Everything we've tried has been excellent, particularly the Steak and Ale Pie dinner. Simply delicious! This is a very small venue, and YES they get busy and, like so many other places, can be understaffed. (We found the staff to be absolutely delightful.) But don't let that type of stuff deter you, and please ignore any negative reviews based on staffing/service. It gets busy. This place is well worth a visit.

Staying in Ellsworth, this brewery was recommended to us. Went for beers and dinner. The interior is really cool, you feel like to you just walked in from the streets of London. A wide variety of beers made near by. No flights, but they do sell 5, 10 and 16 ounce pours so you could try a few instead of just a pint. We did wish there was more of description of each available beer though. Also, we wanted more back story as to why it is called airline brewery and why they logo is a saw blade (you'll just have to ask like we did!). We run a small business in MA and this is something we love to share with our customers. Ordered the sausage roll in puff pastry and the bangers and mash. Good beer, decent grub, portions of veggies and mash could be a bit bigger. The chili baked potato looked amazing! Good service from the bartender. Would definitely go back.

Thanks for stopping past the Pub and for your suggestion. The brewery is located on Route 9 in Amherst and is known as the Airline Road and the building used to be Paul Bunyan furniture Mill. It was full of big old saw blades. Hence the name and logo. Cheers

Excellent beer and atmosphere! We are locals and this is our year round go to place. Occasionally there are people “from away” like Debra W from Hot Springs Arkansas, who expect to be catered to and everything has to be perfect. These people complained about absolutely everything and gave Christina a very hard time. My husband and I watched as they turned their noses up time and time again. Christina went above and beyond for them. And guess what? They didn’t even leave a tip! They actually went so far as to draw a big 0 on the tip line. So, Debra W from Hot Springs Arkansas, I really hope your attitude changes while you are here visiting....cause the locals can only take so much of that nonsense.....Relax, enjoy your trip, and for the love of God...TIP YOUR SERVER!

What can I say :-) we are a small community pub that operates year round. Come February you will find the lights on, beer flowing, and laughter echoing around the room. We care deeply for our customers and vice-versa. These are the reasons we get up every morning and try to make all the magic happen. Cheers

Great Irish-style pub in Ellsworth! They serve a few cask drawn beers and have many others on tap. Their food was delicious too. The pub is relatively small and seats only about 50 people. They do not take reservations and waiting customers must wait outside. We arrived around 5:30pm on a Monday and got the last two seats (at the bar). We highly recommend this place! Just come early.

Pleased you managed to grab the two last seats. It can get very busy in the Summer. The cask ale are traditional British styles that we have drunk back home for many a year. Always worth trying a traditional Ale. Cheers

I went with my brother who was visiting from Florida. We had beers and lunch. Clam chowder was very good - fresh ingredients, clams, a little smoky flavor - nice. Quesadilla was also very nice tasty and fresh. Service was friendly and prompt, other patrons were casual and interesting. We had a great experience here.

Small place, but big on good food! Nice Brittish pub menu, clean, friendly bartender/waiter. We had the traditional Cornish pasty, mash, ale gravy, peas, baked haddock. Next table was enjoying their buffalo deviled eggs, and quesadilla.

This place is small, local & comfortable. We sat in one of the 2 front window tables & were very pleased with our dinners. Nothing fancy or spectacular, just solid, good food. The shepherds pie was one of the best I’ve had & my husband scarfed down his burger. Our server was friendly, helpful & organized. We will absolutely return when in the area.

Came here with my wife and another couple for drinks and dinner. Ambience is wonderfully reminiscent of my brief time in York, England bars. Service was earnest and authentically friendly. We ate: Cottage Pie, Haddock Tacos, Steak & Ale Pie, and the Sausage Roll - all very satisfying. For beer, most of us ordered cask pints - the Scottish Export was especially delicious. All in all, a great experience. We recommend this establishment.
