Pleasant surprise

We were concerned about the quality of restaurants in Eastport based on many TA reviews. It had been suggested that at this establishment we order from the daily specials rather than the menu. We did so and quite enjoyed our meal. The clam chowder was very good and steamed lobster was done to... read more

The Chowder House offers comfortable, casual dining that truly reflects a DownEast Maine seaport. We ate there twice on our latest visit to Eastport -- once indoors and once on the back deck that provides a postcard view of part of the harbor. Both meals -- and the chardonnay we discovered -- were wonderful. The service was friendly and efficient.... More

Our 4th visit to the Chowder House in the very quaint small town of Eastport, Maine. There is no lobster as deliciously Devine as Maine's And know place offers it better than the Chowder House !! Twin 1pound Lobsters cooked perfectly every time for $23. ($19 our first visit 2006). No fancy frills, just a great water view and great... More

The Chowder House is a great place for the view and atmosphere. For the most part, the food is quite good, but, I repeat, but, you can order the same meal 3 times and get 3 totally different preparations of the food. The seafood is what you would expect in downeast Maine, but the Italian is something to try. The... More

We were warned that a lot of the food here is frozen and to look at the board on entering. We did. We opted for the fresh tuna and chose it blackened. It really was a pleasant the change (for us Brits) to be asked how well we wanted it cooked. A non-occurrence in England. We shared one portion complete... More

This was our third time dining here...the first two times were very good, so I am wondering if ownership or management has changed. Our server was friendly, but hardly efficient. We ordered steamers, corn on the cob, a lobster each, baked potato, and fries. The steamers were very small and meager, but tasted OK. My husband got a soft shell... More

The Chowder House offers a varied menu and pleasant surroundings even though the outside may not look like much. Service is good, food is good, there is nothing not to like, as long as you remember that this is a blue collar sea town and not Bar Harbor!

Lobster on the back porch overlooking the bay😀. It does not get much better. Fresh food and quick service. Casual dining Lobster stew was loaded with lobster. Mussels were tasty with lots of garlic. I would love to go back

They started us off with rotten clams, never in my life have I been served rotten food. We should have gotten up and left then. The rest of our supper was deep fried frozen food simply awful...go anywhere else!
