We were seated at bar as unable to get a reservation at this very popular place. The advantage was our view of the food being prepared. Wow, wonderful. And the intricate care the bartender exerted in making each specialty cocktail could account for comments about slow drinks. They looked fabulous. Our salads were so fresh and inventive. My scallops were... More

We had a round table in the corner which was perfect for the 5 of us. Service was pleasant and efficient for our pre-concert dinner. Halibut with spinach and walnut was some of the best I've ever had and the corn soup was also very popular with our friends. Definitely would return!

It did not take us long after walking into Francine's packed dining room to decide we wanted to be outside: first to enjoy cooler temperatures than the over-heated indoor(even though the hostess assured us and other newcomers that the AC was on indeed), second to be able to have a conversation without shouting over the diners at the nearby tables.... We booked here for dinner before a concert. From the outside Francine is rather unprepossessing. The dining room is informal coastal Maine as well, charming in its own way. Our question was whether the food would be good or just routine. Excellent is the answer. Small but interesting menu. Tempting specials. Superb fish - some of the best halibut I've... More

Love this place. Have been there multiple times and always a treat. Romantic, fresh. Great outside seating if the weather is good.

Enjoyed a terrific dinner with family. Everyone was pleased with their entre selections. Favorites were the lobster special, baked chicken, and ribeye steak. Corn soup was also outstanding. Margret our waitress was outstanding......attentive and personable. Worth the trip.

Reasonably-priced French restaurants are hard to find, so I give Francine a "very good" rating, but the food was a mixture of French and "other" dishes that I wouldn't necessarily categorize as French. The quality of preparation varied somewhat between the dishes, with excellent salads and appetizers (pea sprout soup and smoked beet salad), and average to above-average main courses.... More

42nd anniversary, looking for somewhere in mid-coast maine a little different. We were seated in a doorway, but were politely reseated. But the new digs featured a wobbly table and undersized chairs. No matter. Our waitperson was excellent, and always there when needed. The entrees were well prepared but odd, my steak was somehow smothered in green peas. My date... More

Could not have had a better night out for our anniversary. Best Chicken I have ever had. Husband had the halibut and it was cooked to perfection as well. We also got the confit duck mashed potato side to share.. again super tasty. From where I sat, I could see the entire restaurant and into the kitchen. The entire staff... More

I had read a lot about Francine, but wasn't sure if it'd be one of those small town restaurants with big city aspirations that inevitably fall short of your expectations. I'm happy to report, it was not that at all. The quality of the food, the thoughtfulness of the dishes, and the variety were fantastic. This is a can't-miss if... More
