Looking for something besides seafood, as we live close to the coast anyway, we hit upon 40 Paper and had a memorable evening. The waitstaff is exemplary and not once obtrusive, the grilled calamari with beans and arugula was absolutely delicious, the quail on risotto was tasty BUT the lasagna was by far the very best we have ever ever... The food was the best part, unfortunately the portion size seemed small for what we were paying. One beer, two pasta dishes, $53 (with tip). Atmosphere was ok, we ate in the restaurant part. Service was ok. It just wasn't anything special, which is not what I was expecting based on the reviews I read. In all fairness, neither my... More

We have been to 40 Paper many times during extended summer visits to Camden over the past couple of years, always choosing to sit outside so we can bring our dog, as pets are permitted there. We usually go during happy hour, and have always enjoyed it, until our first visit this summer. In the past, the service has always... More

My husband and I had an excellent dinner here. The fish stew[soup] with haddock, Tuscan kale, tomato, etc., was made to order and was an extraordinary blend of flavors[note: since they cook it to order, you should indicate how spicy you would like it, as their usual presentation is somewhat spicy.]. I had an osso buco lasagne with oyster mushrooms,... More

40 Paper was great for Happy Hour. The bar is cozy, the food is tasty and the service low-key and pleasant. We meet very friendly locals who clued us in to other spots in town. If we lived nearby, we'd be regulars.

The positives regarding this restaurant are the bartender and the service. Beyond that, the food is a modern form of Italian cooking that is somewhat unusual. The calamari were chewy. The gnocci tasteless. I ordered branzino and they served the whole fish, head and tail. They should have asked whether we wanted it filleted or served whole. They didn't. Overall,... More

When the only negative thing you can think of, was that there isn't always convenient parking, the place is obviously not that bad. My family has dined here many a time, and we have yet to be disappointed with an order. The flavors mesh well and the service is quick.

Traveled to Camden, Maine last week and discovered 40 Paper on a side street. The restaurant is not large, so the tables are quite close together in the area we were seated. They have a nice bar area and an outdoor patio. Reservations are suggested and we were glad we had done so as it was quite busy on the... More

Bartender really knew his stuff! We only went for late night drinks, but I'd like to try the food too. We tasted drinks we'd never had before -- even absinthe!

40 Paper has been one of our regular stops for cocktails ever since it opened. We manage to visit every time we come to Camden. Bar manager Wind Tracy has an ever-evolving menu of eclectic cocktails, some of which seem to be unique. A couple of years ago we emailed him from Florida to ask for a recipe for a... More

Description
Located in the century-old Knox Mill, our bistro is situated on top of the Megunticook River, just between the two waterfalls. At Brevetto, our modern Italian bistro cuisine is designed to pair perfectly with our extensive– and almost exclusively Italian– wine list. Brevetto is Italian for “patent,” and throughout the restaurant you will find turn-of-the-century schematics of wine presses and odd, out-dated food machines. In stark contrast to the complicated workings of a “salami washing machine,” our menu is simple and straightforward. We feature a large menu with a range of grilled pizzas, Italian pastas, and a variety of entrées. In addition to our extensive wine list, we also have a full bar with artisan draft beers and liquors. Enjoy your dinner in our inviting dining room, or on our waterfront deck. Relax with an obscure Italian red wine at our bar, or an extra-dry gin martini on the leather sofa. Brevetto has some of the best of both worlds, right in downtown Camden.
