My family had planned on lunch at the Vietnamese restaurant next door but they were closed that day, which was great as we were curious about the mouthwatering smells coming out of the Shere Punjab. The food more than lived up to the promise...amazing flavors (spice levels can be customized from 0 to 10) and friendly service. When the manager came by to ask “Is the food good”, we could tell that he knew it was! We enjoyed a freshness and depth of flavor one doesn’t normally get in a regular Indian restaurant, and the extensive menu featured selections that our food-savvy family had not encountered before. Most of the other diners were regulars, and all seemed very happy to be there chatting with the staff and enjoying their meals. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in Brunswick.

We were on vacation in the area and a lot of the local eateries were closed. We were in the mood for something besides seafood and took a chance on this place. It did not disappoint!
We ordered both chicken tikka masala and an order of chicken vindaloo. The dishes came with rice and we bought some naan to accompany it.
The owner took our order over the phone and we paid with a credit card. All orders are takeout and you pick up your order at the front of the store where they bring it out to you.
The flavors were so good! My wife and I both enjoy spicy food and good thing! We requested a medium spice to both dishes and we felt it! Next time we may get it more mild but it really was delicious! For our next trip to Maine we will definitely be coming back!

We were holidaying in Maine and got sick of the lobster and clams. We aren't really Indian food people but fancied a change. On entering the place looked a bit run down. Dont let that put you off. It was incredibly busy with absolutely loads of pick ups. We ordered and there was a bit of a wait for the food, but it was worth the wait. I liked the fact that you ordered the food and then gave them an idea of how spicy you wanted it from 1 to 10 (although we suggested 3 and it was still quite spicy) The food was lovely, the lamb and chicken of high quality and the nan bread was probably the best I have ever tasted. The prices were quite reasonable too.
An enjoyable meal.

I have been to this restaurant many times over the years I lived in Brunswick. It was my local Indian restaurant of choice. This time was a disappointment. We went with a group of 6 with reservations. The restaurant was very very busy! It was a Saturday night. We were seated immediately, waited to be waited on and served in an okay amount of time. This was not what bothered me. Our table looked like it had been added in and we had constant traffic on both sides- one going to the bathroom and takeout and the other to pay and takeout. My dish was too spicy for me even though I stated no spice. I can tolerate a medium spice. I did order a dish I have never ordered before. It was one of the chicken dishes but I don't remember which one. We got a couple of punjab special vegetarian appetizers. I usually love all of the items but this night the pakora was dry and flavorless! We also ordered 3 naans. The one that was the best was the garlic. The punjab naan was okay and the other was not noteworthy. The mango lassi was much thicker than usual as well.
In their defense, it was very cold out and people were standing and waiting for tables by the bathroom and by the door. Not just a few. Several groups in each spot! Most of the times I have visited this restaurant it was not busy, probably a weekday night. This may be an indication they don't do well under pressure??
I'll probably go there again (but not when it is busy) since their track record has been good up until now.

Bright colors mark this small Indian restaurant which looks to be family run. We had lunch here and by 12:30, every table was occupied by families and others. There were 4 of us and we each ordered a curry. Our orders ranged from fish to chicken to lamb curry plus several kinds of naan. Everyone thought the food was delicious, and my spouse thought his lamb curry the best he’d ever had! Basmati rice came with the curries and there were some poppadoms to start. When you order, you specify your heat preference from 1 to 10. Two of our group chose 4, one 6, and one 3. Personally, I’d go for level 4 next time.

With two good looking Indian cafes on Maine Street in Brunswick, we choose Shere Punjab by coin flip. Now we may never get to the other one. Saag paneer is usually our stardard test of a new Indian restaurant. Both the cheese and the sauce at Shere Punjab were the best we've ever had. The haddock Masala was delicious and the fish perfectly cooked. The lamb Madras was not what I expected but only got better with familiarity. The paratha and naan breads were both large and piping hot. No cheap, but worth it.

Long wait!!!! Our order was probably forgotten, as people that were all around us got their food within 15 minutes. We sat for over an hour at lunch time. Food was great but, too long for me to return. We had to remind them and they looked in the computer after an hour and it took another half hour to get our food.

The cooks are from Napal (north of India) and they do not hesitate to add their cultural influence to traditional Indian cuisine. The entree's taste better than from eateries that only use Indian spices. They prepare meals with a mastery of seasoning. Whether one gets a dish at a low spice level, or one at a hot spice level, the flavors in the food come through and are amazing compared with traditional Indian cooking. We take folk from outside of Maine here all the time, and they are amazed at the taste of their meal. Many agree with us that this is the best Indian restaurant they have ever dined at. Oh, their breads are far better than at other Indian eateries. (They have a chef that does nothing besides making fresh bread for every order.) Admittedly, this place has an average, plain-Jane seating area.
Patrons come to Shere Punjab for the super-delicious meals, not for the decorum.
Enjoy!!!

My family and I always come here when we want the best Indian food in Maine. Some of our favorites off the menu are the butter chicken/lamb, the delicious naan breads, mango lassi and Tandoori Chicken. This place is a gem on the Main Street of Brunswick! The staff is very nice as well. Takeout is frequently an option for us if we are in the area, served until 9pm. *5 Stars*

Time and time again we have been impressed with Shere Punjab. We try something new every time we come by, and are always very pleased with what we get. Particular favorites for us are the butter chicken and the lamb saag. Be sure to explore their selection of naan, too. We love the Peshwari naan. We’ll keep coming back.

We ordered takeout during a stay in Brunswick. We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Naan, and Samosas. Everything was delicious, Chicken Tikka Masala actually was a large portion with lots of chicken (we’ve been places there’s more sauce than meat). Rice was cooked perfectly. Offered us plates as well when we asked for silverware. When I called, the gentleman said it would be an hour, which we were fine with. Yum! Will be back.

We eat at many Indian restaurants and when we stopped in Brunswick recently for lunch, decided to give Shere a try. So glad we did! Punjabi food is our preference among Indian restaurants and this was one of the best we’ve ever enjoyed. They’re receptive to varying levels of spiciness for anyone concerned their dish may be too hot.
Can’t wait to return next time we are in Maine.

So impressed. I am from the UK, where Indian food has become our national dish, and travel to India occasionally for my work. Shere Punjab excelled. Had a Dhal Makhani (not black lentils, but still beautiful) and Sag Aloo. My wife had a Chicken Massala and our friend, a Chicken Mushroom. All excellent. My sincere compliments to the chef.

I had nearly lost faith in Trip Advisor. I’m glad I gave you another try! We just had the most delicious Indian food ever and we’re both fans of Indian fare!
I had the Mango Chicken and it was so tender and flavorful! My partner had the Sandjahari Mung Chicken. We enjoyed both, but especially the Mango Chicken! We will definitely return the next time we’re in Brunswick!

this is a favorite stop whenever we are in Maine, this visit was fantastic. We stopped for lunch enroute to Camden, enjoyed a lamb curry and chicken masala. Both were incredibly delicious, perfectly spiced and meat was super tender. We also had onion kulcha and it was full of onions and spices. We enjoyed our visit so much we also stopped on the way back, the team at Shere Punjab never disappoint.
