My wife and split the large vegan nachos with cashew cheese. I also ordered a single fried fish taco which was also great. We each had a Bissell Brothers Substance IPA (best IPA in Maine) my opinion. Dessert of chocolate mousse. This restaurant is located in an old mill building right along the river. Interior walls of old brick and... More

This is one of our favorite spots for wonderful food and an eclectic atmosphere. Housed in a renovated mill, the menu is varied and has wonderful vegan options. The rice flour fish and chips are to die for, so light and crispy. I fell in love with the grilled Caesar salad and look for it everywhere I go now. The... More

Trendy, hip, and fun. Awesome converted mill space, with a lot of history and character. Usually quite busy, with a great buzzing vibe. Young, quirky staff are fun to watch as they zoom about. But the star here is the food, which is so yummy! Especially if you are gluten free. It's unusual to find a restaurant that caters so... More

Frontier is one of our favorite restaurants! Housed in a former mill, the restaurant's atmosphere is unique and comfortable, and the service always prompt and friendly. The drink menu offers an array of unique cocktails that are generously poured, and a wide variety of craft beers and ciders to slurp. The best part of Frontier, though, is its Fish &... More

We have stopped for lunch a few times in the last four or five years and this place is becoming so much better with age! It has found it's nitch and is now a great place to dine. The grilled ceasor salad is the best I have had in Maine. The service is good and food is presented in novel... More

My husband and I visited this local restaurant with friends for dinner. They use foods from local farms and all of their food is gluten free. They also have a small theatre which seats about 50 people. The night we were there they were showing Ron Howard's Beatles movie the touring years. Great show, good food an enjoyable evening. If... We were six people of three different generations (ages 9 to 79). Everyone was treated in a friendly, considerate way by our waitress, who was knowledgeable about even esoteric subjects, such as the differences between the various micro-brew ales that are offered. Although the restaurant was completely full, everything we ordered came promptly. Only a few slight shortcomings in the... More

That you can over-order. We went to Frontier particularly to see a friend's photographs on display. This is one of the nice thinks about the place, which offers a changing selection of films, performances, and exhibits, as well as good food in an informal atmosphere. Baked onion starter was fabulous, and Brussels sprouts good, too. I must confess that my... More

The building itself is cool. Old mill with good views. Have gone now several times and the food has always been good. Very fresh and consistent. Had a gnocchi dish that was outstanding. Service has been ok. One server seemed a little aloof about the menu. Ask to sit at the bar. I think they are best seats in the... More

We recently went to the Frontier Cafe for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The food was delicious and the service very friendly. I would love to return if I am in the area again.
