We decided to go to 88 for dinner dressed nicely we thought. Upon arriving the hostess indicated my sandals were not nice enough and needed manager approval. The manager arrives clearly approving of my attire. We were so offended we left without eating dinner. I have been to many nice restaurants and have never had to have my shoes approved... More

If you are looking for a place with family where you can do anything or do nothing, look no further than this resort. Sit on your porch in the crisp cool air and let the sun warm your soul. Or, kayak, fish, swim, bike or engage in any number of other daily activities. We especially enjoyed kayaking. Friendly and helpful... More

We chose to stay at Spruce Point Inn when planning our trip to Boothbay region, based on its location away from the busy downtown area. We were so glad we did - just perfect quiet location on gorgeous property, overlooking the harbor. Convenient boat shuttle service to town, or a short walk along quiet road. Our lodge unit had lovely... More

we enjoyed the breakfast buffet both mornings and had a wonderful salad served on The Deck. This was a business trip so the dinners were catered on the property and the food was wonderful as was the service.

It was our wedding anniversary and we were given the best table for two, in a corner with windows facing the water and the dining patio, which had not yet opened for the season. Our meal, while good and beautifully served, was nothing exceptional for a restaurant of this caliber. I was glad we decided to eat here, given the... More

I had dinner at Bogies Restaurant this evening my 13 year old daughter, it was a special evening out for her and I. We had the wedge salad (she likes iceberg) with their crafted bleu cheese dressing, pork belly, watermelon radish- it was delightful. Next I had the lobster mac and cheese and she had the lobster roll. My Mac... More

"88" is a gem of a restaurant. The decor consists of cool blues and beiges and wide windows overlook the bay. The tone is immediately set with a grand piano playing in the background. Elegant white table clothes and decent oneida cutlery complete the table. You can have a conversation and hear your partner. This is not a yoga pants... More

Description
Food & Wine Magazine came up with the idea of “Collaboration Nation” to describe chefs working with customers, vendors and each other to bring the best flavors and experiences to those who love food. The principles of Chefs Stiles and Weinerth are sourcing, preperation, and enhancement. Here at Spruce Point Inn in Boothbay Harbor, Chefs Stiles and Weinerth have operated on these principles from the beginning, sourcing the locally fished, farmed and harvested ingredients from the best seasonal farms and producers in Maine. They then prepare the menu with cooking techniques that preserve the foods integrity and nutrition. The final product is enhanced by optimizing nutritional value via product combination and menu diversity.Midcoast Maine is the beneficiary of a cornucopia of retired/relocated professionals who have left banking or IT to go back to the land and Chef Stiles – who grew up on a farm in local Lincolnville, just up the road -- has built relationships with local farms and other food purveyors, sourcing ingredients like the fresh Aroostook beets and lavender-honey chevre from Tourmaline Hill Farm, greens from the hothouse built by a drummer from the band Phish and cheese from the State of Maine Cheese Company, a business created by a Manhattan banker in Rockland. It's an exciting time to be in the restaurant business and especially exciting to be part of what’s happening here, says Chef Stiles.
