On 8/11/16 my in-laws took us (7 altogether) out to eat. Our waitress was very pleasant, and the appetizers arrived reasonably quickly. After we moved inside (mosquitoes) we waited nearly 2 hours for the rest of the meal. Our waitress was embarrassed by the wait, but only after we inquired. After the food finally arrived, we were disappointed by the... More

Fabulous dining experience. Probably best place to eat in all of Boothbay Harbor. Meal was absolutely delish!

We returned for our second meal here of the summer and were disappointed both with the food and the service. Haddock and lobster in pastry were both overcooked. Our waitress may have been new or she was having an off night, but she seemed rushed, only brought bread halfway through the meal, and then after offering to do separate checks... More

My husband and I went for a meal with my siblings and really enjoyed ourselves. The little lights in trees were charming and the weather was perfect. We enjoyed an excellent baked pastry puff with lobster for an appetizer and my husband enjoyed his seared crusted tuna entree and I liked my halibut. A very pleasant final family evening before... We went here for dinner on the recommendation from friends. We ordered the oysters app which were not on ice and not cold. We both ordered the lazy lobster and risotto for the main course. It took over 1 1/2 hour for the dinners to arrive. The lobster was mediocre and the risotto was cold, pasty, and unedible. The wait... More

My husband and I both ordered the Lazy Lobster which was touted to have the meat of a whole lobster and risotto that sounded amazing. The lobster was very tiny--I thought they had to throw them back under a certain size--but even though the portion was small the flavor was good and very tender. The risotto was another story. It... We were seated on the porch, which was really quite pleasant, but the dinner was somewhat disappointing. The grilled Ceasar salad was good, but the croutons had no garlic taste. The rucola salad was also good, but a bit small. The lazy lobster was over-cooked by approximately 90 seconds, just long enough to toughen the meat. I didn't understand the... More

Dark, dirty... took over an hour to get appetizers, another 45 minutes for entrees. Over priced for what you get. Will never go back

We have visited Thistle Inn several times in the past and were always delighted with the meal, the atmosphere snd the service. Well the atmosphere and service haven't changed. It is still charming and our server was attentive without being over-bearing. Perhaps it was an "off" night but the food was not the quality we have come to expect. For... More

There are two dining options- the restaurant and the pub. We ate in the pub. The menu is more creative than many places in Boothbay Harbor. The service was excellent. The seating was very comfortable.

Description
The Thistle Inn is the perfect mix of fine cuisine and casual fare. We use only the freshest ingredients and everything is home made, including salad dressings, fresh baked breads and desserts. The best way to describe our food is an eclectic mix of American cuisine with a hint of international flavors. We let the availability of local produce and seafood influence the menu.
