What a fantastic visit! Service was outstanding, salads were some of the best we’ve ever had – I added steak tips my husband added the marinated chicken. Blueberry vinaigrette was really awesome. I wanted green iced tea. They brought me a hot mug of green tea and a cup of ice– I can’t tell you how many places across the US can’t figure that one out. 🤨 I also had the virgin margarita, which was outstanding.

Driving up my wife and I didn’t know what to expect. A young woman we were on a boat tour recommended this place for lunch so…we stopped. I am so glad we did. My wife loved the Blueberry Cosmo and my Blueberry Lemonade with a shot of vodka was perfect. The waitress was spot on, making recommendations and making our visit perfect. The shortbread appetizer with bacon and scallops was amazingly good. My carnivore pizza, was also perfectly cooked and had great flavor. The next time we are in the area we will stop in for drinks and a bite to eat. I highly recommend this as a local restaurant stop.

The Pickled Wrinkle is arguably one of our favorite restaurants from our weeklong honeymoon in Maine. Not only did we scope it out ahead of time, but the owners of the cabin we stayed at also recommended them.
First of all, as native Wisconsinites, we are very particular about our cheese curds. These cheese curds were incredible. The breading was delicious, and the curds inside were piping hot but did not stretch and still squeaked. They were utter perfection. We asked for a side of aioli with them and that was the perfect pairing.
The fall cocktails were also incredible. The blueberry cosmo was so delicious. That’s a drink you could keep having throughout the night and enjoying. Not too sweet and a great wild blueberry taste!
My husband and I shared 2 entrees and both were incredible. The fresh crabmeat roll was the best one we had all week, and the fries were yummy and plentiful (took some home for a late night snack). The scallop flatbread was perfect with the balsamic and bacon.
The food, atmosphere, drinks, and staff were incredible. The one regret is that this place is so far from our home!

Went on a Wednesday night in June, and we waited over an hour and 15 minutes for our food. The waitress told us it was because they had “2 big parties,” but the parties were seated in the dining room, so it’s not like they were serving more than the normal numbers of patrons. Our kids were exhausted and starving. The food was good (we had a burger, a pizza, a lobster roll, and chicken fingers), but not great. If patrons are going to wait a long time for dinner, the restaurant’s best bet is to let people know before they are seated and/or offer a free appetizer to help with hungry diners who are waiting.

This was the only restaurant in the area open on Sunday evening so we didn't have much choice if we wanted to eat out. It is very casual, and was pretty busy for early evening, the staff was friendly and efficient. We wanted seafood and there were few options on the menu so we went for the lobster flatbread- the lobster was tasty (although sparse), and the flatbread cheesy and good (a little burnt on the bottom), but since the flatbread kind of overpowered the lobster taste we chose to eat it separately. If we were to go back we would probably order a burger and eat outside, the music was way too loud inside.

This place used to be a local staple but has since sold out to the tourism industry. I gave this place another try despite hearing poor reviews from my local friends.
Let me tell you - it is worse than I had expected. We were left to wait outside for well over an hour with no interaction from the staff. The menu has been changed and the portion sizes have been cut down to a laughable amount. We paid nearly thirty dollars for three tiny crabcakes and a side salad.
There are very many good options in the down east area and I would recommend a different establishment if at all possible. I will not be returning again.

The Pickled Wrinkle
Our place is not for everyone and that is ok.
We absolutely ‘sold out’ of said crab cakes this weekend with local regulars waiting when we opened to purchase the hearty meal. Most everyone knows prices on everything have skyrocketed in the last years and our crab is caught and picked on the peninsula. It is fresh and delicious and absolutely worth every penny.
Despite our best efforts, with housing in our area being bought up and used for short term rentals, staff has nowhere to live and has become increasingly scarce. On the day you are referring to, we did sales we would ideally have twice as many people working our front of house for. We offer great pay and a positive work environment but can only do what we can do. People are less and less interested in working in the industry. Maybe ask YOURSELF why.
Nobody forced you to wait at a business that was obviously full with a long wait. You were told the truth of the matter and chose to stay. Now you’re complaining about not being attended to while waiting for your table? Crazy.
‘The world is short-staffed, be kind to those that showed up!’

The Pickled Wrinkle possesses a unique feel of familiarity and friendly atmosphere to Birch Harbor. From the logo designs and live music to the extremely tasteful food this is a must visit. When your finished eating be sure to pop over to Me & Ben’s Dairy Creme!

We had a great meal here. There isn’t much competition so we were nervous. From the start it was a great experience. They are very busy so we took it in stride and just enjoyed an appetizer while we waited for our food. All in all it was done in a timely manner and cooked to perfection. We had a great server and the cook(s) did a fantastic job. We would go here again.

The sign out front warned that it might take a long time- that wasn't a good omen. Couldn't quite figure out why they opened for lunch at 1 and not earlier but our options were limited and we were the first few tables in. They were out of a type of beer and had to run across the street to get lemonade. Food took almost an hour to come out and was not great. Such a cute place with great potential - cut down the menu, make great sandwiches, ditch the lobster, make simpler pizzas. It could be perfect!

We saw the Pickled Wrinkle on Ashin the Dirt's itinerary for the schoodic peninsula hikes. We decided to get a late lunch. We had some ciders both the downeast and a local blueberry. Our appetizer was the pretzel bites, which were overcooked, but out entrees of the burger and the steak sandwich were really good. I think it lived up to its reputation. A lot of cars in the lot, but we were seated right away and service was good.

My plain crispy chicken wings dipped in bbq sauce on the side was as described by The Pickled Wrinkle. Delicious😋!
My husband said his sausage pizza was very good.
Our lady order taker is so feminine, graceful and very charming. Mr. Zayn is also friendly and attentive.
Great place to dine in when they open at 1 pm and before they close at 7 pm right after you come out of the Schoodic Loop Road of Acadia National Park on Rt. 186. No reservations necessary. Closed on Tuesdays.

Due to COVID and because it was a Sunday in October, there wasn't much open. This pub style restaurant is located a short distance outside the exit from Schoodic Point. I had planned for us to eat lunch there, but the catch was it didn't open until 2pm. (Think they should consider opening at Noon to catch the Sunday church lunch crowd as well as the tourists.) We probably pulled up about 1pm. Rather than go back to Ellsworth or Bar Harbor, we spent the time driving a short distance to see the Prospect Harbor Lighthouse. Timing was perfect and we returned just as they were opening. Again, due to COVID there was no indoor dining. Orders were taken at a Dutch door and then brought out you at picnic tables. It was a beautiful sunny Fall day so it was so nice to sit outside. Service was very quick. I got the crab roll. I could hear somebody inside when we arrived earlier, pounding away at seafood to pick meat. So grateful for the hard & meticulous work. The crab meat was incredibly fresh! My husband had a burger. I eavesdropped on a conversation learning this is a place the locals like and hang out at. That says a lot. The only downside was that since they would not let anyone in their inside restrooms, again because of the pandemic. They had a port-a-potty behind the restaurant. It was disgust - dirty and soaked from water from the previous 2 days rain. Fortunately I had come prepared with hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes. (That's why I gave 4 stars.)

From exotic dishes to comfort foods, the Pickled Wrinkle does it just right. Great fare served quick at reasonable prices by friendly locals like Kiwi. Just right after a visit to the "other side of Acadia." The music this evening was solid gold seventies. A definite must stop for the adventurous or timid eater!

Hiking in Schoodic and needed some food. This place was great with a good local beer selection and the best crab cakes I’ve ever eaten. My wife had the crab roll and it was incredible!

The chicken sandwich I had with feta and balsamic on it was excellent. The sangria was a good choice, and we absolutely loved the brussels sprout appetizer. This place has a relaxing, friendly vibe. We were recommended by a friend to eat here, and we were happy we did.
