Where to eat your lobster

Out in the boonies but worth the drive. Watched the lobster boats while eating my huge lobster and wonderful sides. A little pricey but worth it.

Thurstons is by far our favorite Lobster Pound on Mount Desert. Two things set it apart from the rest. First the location. We recommend timing it for a full moon and sit on the patio! The setting is perfectly Maine! The setting is equal to the folks who serve you. Their customer service, family oriented and ready to teach all... More

It is a drive, but you feel like an insider. Indeed, the residents recommend Thurston's. (they can make their own lobster at home, but for the rest of us, this is the next best thing) You are right on the water, pick your lobster that was fought that day, likely.

Standard lobster pound - good service and good lobster. Lines can get long, but they do everywhere. Once our daughter saw the live lobsters she opted for a crab roll and mac and cheese - both of which were great! Spouse and son tackled whole lobsters and did admirably. Bathrooms are small and there don't seem to e enough of... More

The lobster chowder was fantastic; traditional lobster pound. Family friendly....off the beaten path. It was nice to get away from the village. Clean. Overlooks a pretty bay...line moves fairly quickly.

Just go, it's amazing. Sit outside, take in a million dollar view, sip a cold beer and wait til the excellent staff bring you a lobster BLT or some other fine menu item.

Always a must for our annual trips to MDI - usually try and get there twice per trip. Definitely off the beaten path from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor, but so worth it. Wonderful views and the best lobster!

Thurston's is my favorite lobster pound to visit when I am in the area. Lobster straight off the boat and on to your plate. Beautiful view of the harbor and tasty food. A must do when on the island.

We went to Thurston's by recommendation of locals. This was a nice place. We ordered and when our lobsters came, they were hot and already cracked! If you weren't sure how to eat it, the staff was more than willing to help you! We went back a second time and had the lobster BLT. Both meals were excellent. My wife... More
