We had a fabulous meal at Thurstons! Lucked out because we got our order in and paid right before they had to close because of computer problems. The lobster and mussels were delicious, the waitresses very personable and the service was excellent. I dropped my lobster tail onto the walkway below and they reboiled it for me so I could... More

Have tried lobster in several different restaurants in and near Bar Harbor. None come close to Thurstons. You pick the size of lobster, they cook it and serve it still hot. They have other things in the menu, but we are there for the lobster. Sides of corn on cob, coleslaw and blueberry roll were also very good.

Lobster doesn't come much fresher than this. We ate here 2 nights out of our 5 night stay. It is laid back and friendly with a view that overlooks the harbor with all of the lobster boats. It was nice to get out of Bar Harbor and find a much more authentic spot.

Thurston's offers whole lobsters, as well as a variety of other seafood options. The menu isn't huge but there was something for everyone. Their extra stuffed lobster rolls were huge - a generous amount of meat for$20! The open seating was very laid back and informal and the views were spectacular overlooking the harbor and lobster boats. Most of the... More

The new king of south west Acadia food, especially now that Mainely Delights has closed. We love the soft shelled lobster, the excellent crab cakes, the bar, and the fact that they serve Island Bound pies (get thee to SW Harbor to buy a whole pie from Mary Musson!). They have redesigned the outer decks to include a nice covered... More

The best lobster I've ever had. Soft shell lobsters are sweeter & more tender. It is true. Unfortunately they were out of steamers by the time we ordered our dinner. Fresh sweet corn. Excellent haddock chowder. Fresh green salad. Blueberry cake was more sweet bread but a little dry. Great bar seating a. All seats have water view. I appreciate... More

Our family enjoyed the best hard shell lobster dinners with blueberry spice cake. Outdoor dining overlooking the water. The lobster dinner came with pipping hot butter, fresh corn on the cob, creamy coleslaw and a soft sourdough roll. Excellent beer selection as well as non alcoholic drinks. Fresh blueberry pie with smooth vanilla ice cream. This is a must place... More

We tried lobster rolls at a number of places and Thurston's was the best! We ordered carry-out twice and it can get rather busy, but it was worth the wait. Just have a drink and enjoy the view while you wait.

We visited Thurston's on a rainy morning while staying in Bar Harbor. Due to the weather we were looking for things other than Acadia and the person at our B&B recommended Southwest Harbor and also Thurston's in Bernard. We decided to take a drive and by the time we got to Thurston's for lunch the weather had turned and the... More

Couldn't have been better! It was foggy and a bit chilly when we visited, so we sat in the bar area, which was perfect. If you order the hard shell lobsters like we did, taking a pair of snips to help cut into the shell will make the going a bit easier. All we had were the scissors on my... More
