This was our first time at a lobster pound and it was quite an experience. They definitely do not skimp on the lobster. There was tons of good meat in our lobster rolls. They know what they're doing and they do it well!

This place was recommended to us by our hotel mgr. and was definitely a great recommendation.. My only con about this is finding it . It definitely was a long drive but once we got there, the food was great.. we had cream of halibut soup which was fabulous and then the lobster of course was delish.. Place is like... More

We arrived just as the full moon was rising across the bay, reflecting its light over and between the bouy-moored fishing boats. Lovely setting for this dock-side restaurant. Actually, this Lobster pound is more of a picnic scene, than restaurant. It featured picnic tables, a line up for ordering food and a steady rotation of guests. Nevertheless, wait time was... More

The Lobster Roll was the best I ever had - delicious and loaded with lobster with a very light dressing. The hard shelled lobsters were very good and the blueberry cake is delicious. This is a no frills place with food served on paper and plastic. The view of the harbor is magnificent and the atmosphere is laid back. It... More

We had been anticipating our lobster meal, but came away very disappointed. When they brought the lobster, they set the trays on our table, gave two of us one bib, one set of plastic silverware, one napkin and walked away. They gave no advice or help as how to go about cracking the lobster. We struggled with our plastic silverware... More

Thurston’s is right on the wharf. Come at the right time and you will see them unload the critters right from the boats. This place is not fancy. Indeed, quality goes down at all lobster pounds as accommodations improve. When you walk in, read the menu above the counter where you order. Look at the tanks holding the lobsters of... More

Lobster wasn't very good. Restaurant wasn't all that clean. We were disappointed. The corn with the lobster was old and not edible. Staff was indifferent.

It was crowded - we knew it would be - there was a line to order, you had to find your own table (difficult because there was no outside seating - too cold), but service was fairly fast and the food was good. We ended up eating with another couple at a table for four and it was a fun... More

When in Maine, one must eat lobster. We chose Thurston's based on reviews and were not disappointed at all. The lobster was perfect as was the view of Bass Harbor. Leave room for dessert. The blueberry ice cream and pie were delicious. You can see the lobster boats coming and going and unloading right near the restaurant.

I had a $14 dollar lobster roll that had twice as much meat than the $39 dinner I had the night before. The setting is great. Actually eating overlooking the working harbor
