Key: Only Takes Cash: A place one can wear shorts, jeans, or a suit. Check the menu online before going as it is served Family Style and limited items. Be sure to get a pasta dish to put the other entres upon. Oyster Pie and Shrimp Mosca's are favorites of mine. Extensive wine list. Do not expect to be served... More

I'd go here every chance I had. Wish they had franchises. The shrimp and oysters are so unique and unable to be duplicated. Superb cooking and wonderful tastebud treat.

So, after being invisible for 25 minutes after being seated, we finally got someone to wait on us. And to give them their due we were very well taken care of after that. However, after we ate, we figured this place is just coasting, resting on its laurels, since, considering the limited menu, the food was just pedestrian. And being... More

It's been awhile since we had been to Mosca's. We went frequently for many years and we were never disappointed. The decor and the lighting have been updated. The food is still homestyle and delicious. The service is better than ever. It's fun to go to an Italian restaurant and hear diners speaking Italian! It's a little bit of a... More

Superb garlic chicken and chicken cacciatore. Don't let the drive over to Avondale or the restaurants exterior dissuade you from making the trip. Practically unchanged in 30 years, this is a must try.

I brought my out-of-town family to this place, and I will NEVER go back. Long ago, it was a great place. No more. The chicken was overcooked, dry and overpriced. Spaghetti & Meatballs was $25. Baked chicken, $30!! The place is run down. After all these years you'd think they'd fix it up. It wasn't worth the drive from New... More

Went and give this place Shot because of its high rating but was let down big time. Service was sub-par and food was just plain old spaghetti with nothing to brag about. Would not visit again!

I noticed the reviews of Mosca's were very mixed and when we had dinner there, I understood why. Mosca's is just like my Sunday family dinners were when I was growing up - the simple pasta course, the roast chicken, the salad.....although there are some creative versions of same, it is pretty basic food. All of which was delicious! The... More

It isn't high on the ambiance factor and it is a bit of a drive out to Waggaman but it is so worth it for the food. Shrimp Mosca, anything oyster, lots of garlic. We've been twice and slightly prefer it with a large group so we can order more entrees and create a family style feast.

We had read about Mosca's and were excited to try it. We rented a car and drove there from NOLA. We didn't mind that it wasn't fancy, but the food was not memorable. The salad was over salted. And the entrees were unimaginative. The best thing in my mind was the plain red sauce over spaghetti. The service was fine,... More
