My first time visit and maybe something was off this evening. The service was very good and attentive but the food just did not meet my expectations. I tried the blackened snapper with a baked potato and salad. The snapper was a nice size piece...but the taste was lacking. I took some bread pudding to go after reading previous reviews but my serving tasted burnt. If I am back in the area, I might give a second try.More

Passing thru Slidell, I decided to stay at a local hotel and get some good seafood. The hotel clerk recommended Vera’s Seafood. I hailed a Lyft and to Vera’s I went. The wait staff was super friendly and offered nothing but top notch service, answering...my few questions and keeping my tea glass full. I had the seafood platter with a soft shell crab added. The waitress pointed out when my meal arrived, that I got TWO soft shell crabs instead of just one. That was fine with me, I love soft shell crab. I ate what I could hold and got a box for my leftovers, and ready to leave, I hailed another Lyft. NO CARS AVAILABLE. I switched over to Uber. NO CARS AVAILABLE. I’m 2 miles from the hotel, I’m full, and fat. After about 45 minutes trying unsuccessfully to get a lyft or Uber, I decided to hoof it. About halfway across the parking lot, the hostess ran me down and informed me her manager was gonna give me a ride back to the hotel. I didn’t catch his name, but he was a super nice guy and when I gave him a $10 handshake, he was having no part of it. Said if he accepted the money, it would no longer be a favor. So...., he we are. Hopefully this review will send them some business. The food is delicious, there’s nothing more that can be said for that. The service was ABOVE AND BEYOND. Thanks Vera’s and Mr Manager. Made my day.More

Was brought here by fellow instructors while in Slidell. Our group was taken care of by Savanah and she could not have been nicer. A large selection of prepared seafood from the menu we all got our orders in and were quickly served our drinks....Everyone was happy with the appetizers and the entrees that they ordered. We as a group said that we would be coming back.More

Today I have to give them a 3 star because of the food. Food: The pasta dish with the catfish and shrimp was conflicting. The fish and the shrimp was tasty, seasoned really well, but the pasta was not pleasant tasting. It had no taste,...kinda watered down taste. This will not get ordered again. I love their chargrilled oysters, but today they were almost burnt. Not buttery but they gave extra bread that was drenched in butter so it made the bread a little cold. Server was nice, friendly young lady and very attentive The gumbo needed some file' maybe..something was missing, can't put my finger on it.More

As I write this I am looking forward to my next trip because this place is a hidden gem. We were greeted by a very charming and enthusiastic hostess who lead us to our table and then we were greeted by our cheerful waitress. We...had a few questions about the menu and she was spot on with her answers. My fried flounder with a shrimp and crabmeat cream sauce was done to perfection and served piping hot. The flavors were magnificent as the sauce complimented the flounder it was on. My wife got the crabmeat au gratin and plans to get again. It was rich and creamy with the right mixture of cheeses and baked until it was bubbling hot. Not much of it was left and it ended up being reheated and eaten with my leftover fish. We will definitely be going back and we will eventually try the Vera's over in Abita Springs.More

I had the Flounder special with jumbalaya, it was really good. For desert I had the bread pudding, super good. I would eat here again if ever in the area again. Our waitress Savanna was super nice and very good at her job.

There hasn't been another soup as good as the soup at Veras. This one is Broccoli and Crabmeat, but there is a variety of soups that are all amazing. My husband likes the tiasted french bread with his soup.

First thing i noticed was that Vera's is a VERY clean restaurant. From front to back. My server seated me immediately. I asked for sweet tea. And then i took a tour of the restroom. It was immaculate. She suggested some appetizers but i was...in the mood for a salad. She made me a chicken Cesar salad to die for. I asked for extra croutons and she actually gave me 33 more croutons. Mmmmm. The ice tea was obviously sun brewed with REAL sugar. Not that cancer causing syrup they serve at Middendorfs. I am so happy to see that there are still establishments That serve food like they are from Nawlins Dahlins. The salad filled me up so much that my waitress had to pack my Seafood Platter. She gave me a to go cup with pleanty of ice. Like we love it in the south. She gave me tartar and cocktail sauce with napkins and silverware without me even having to ask. Shirly is a wonderful server. I tipped her and the cooks 20 per cent each. I will be bringing my whole family here for my moms 93rd. Birthday on the 28th. Shirley said we can bring our own cake and will NEVER be charged 2.50 per person to eat our own cake like at Middendorfs. I had such a good time. Waitress wonderful. Food perfect. Restroooms beautiful. You want Seafood come here. You want an art/ant crawl go to Middendorfs.More

We tried the new Abita Springs location of Vera's Seafood, and we were very disappointed. I originally asked for water to drink, but it was disgusting. When I mentioned this to the waitress she said she knew, and she never drinks the water there. If...the staff is aware that the water is bad, what are they cooking with? I ordered a half and half platter with shrimp and stuffed crab. For my side dishes I chose a salad and fries. The salad and salad dressing was very good, but the croutons were soft. The shrimp was flavorful but overcooked. The stuffed crab had very little crab in it, but there were huge pieces of crab shell. The fries were undercooked and had no seasoning. The slices of toast were flavorless. We were looking forward to having a new seafood restaurant in that location, but I doubt we will be eating there again.More

I went to the new Abita location. It just opened a few days ago...maybe too soon. The staff were all young but friendly. The seafood restaurant with an ok seafood gumbo says it all. Average at best making it pricey for what they offer. Onion...rings were stiff and cold. The fried oysters were average. There’s no lunch menu. The meals do come with a salad, and one side...the potato salad is better from Sam’s. I will say that the thousand island dressing seems homemade and was great. They need to do better. There are too many better seafood restaurants close by to survive with ok food.More
