My wife and I had dinner at Ernest's and it was amazing. Larry, our server, did a very professional and "Johnny on the spot job" We started with Ernest's marinated crab claws and shrimp remoulade. Even the bread brought to the table tasted special. My wife had the fried shrimp dinner - jumbo fantailed shrimp with Ernest's famous remoulade sauce and I had the Snapper Ernest with lump crab meat and lemon butter white wine sauce. The flavors were superb and everything was done in such an old fashion and gracious way. My hat is off to Ernest for a MOST memorable meal and evening. I will sing his praises for a long time to come.

My pet peeve is that the food network calls every cook a chef. Ernest is truly and 100% a chef. Your tastebuds will not be disappointed. Make sure to start off with Ernest’s Famous Marinated Crab Claws. “Old G” (the bartender) is so much fun and can customize a drink that you will love. All their portions are on the large Be warned you will need a togo box. You will see couples in suits and dresses, along with blue jeans and casual attire. Regardless of dress every is treated with the same courtesy and professionalism. Note: You will need to make reservations.

I took my wife to Ernest’s for Mother’s Day and it was Great! Our meal was very good and the service was above and beyond. My wife had been ill the day before and we had to move our dinner date to the next night. They graciously accommodated us. Also, I had ordered roses for her for the occasion and did not really expect them to be able to move them. Well after supper, we waited and waited but things seemed delayed. My wife went on to the car and I waited for the bill. The lady came over and told me the lady was making my flowers but had run out of flowers and had to go across town for more. While she was returning, she got caught in a traffic jam but finally got back and did a beautiful arrangement for my wife. This kind of customer service is something very rare today in our society. I and my wife very much appreciated their kindness and good food.

4 of us celebrated the birthday of a family member last weekend. Cheyenne was our server. Things started out well with our marinated crab claws and hot bread. 2 of us ordered trout that did not smell or taste fresh, our server returned our order to the kitchen and per our request we were served the shrimp appetizer that was not hot or crispy as it usually is. Our plates were cleared, we expected our server to bring out the cake we had requested but waited 10 minutes for it to be produced. The check was provided, the charges for the two entrees was deducted but our server never came back to the table to pick up the credit card to pay the bill. We ended up collecting enough cash to cover the tab and left. I was very disappointed in the service but even more disappointed that the house didn’t come out from the kitchen to inquire about the returned food. I usually rank this establishment as one of my favorites but this visit was a huge letdown.

The service, location, and food are not not good. The wait time for a table is ridicule, especially when you made a reservation Made a reservation for 7:00 p.m. for a party of 10, and waited for two hours or more to get seated. When asked about the long wait, the reserve staff only stated that they didn't have a table at the present time, for the large party. When we did get seated, it took the waitress another 15 minutes to assist us. He didn't bring menus, just asked what we wanted to eat. Asked for menu additional minutes and he just informed us of what they had. When we did order, as he was served us, the waitress informed us, they the restaurant did not have any more chicken, so she had to reorder. Not one time, did the restaurant try to comb the parity for the poor services and the poor food. Ernest food is not that special for the expensive amount you have to pay for the food. Better food at some many restaurants without the high expensive price tag.

It’s not what it used to be. Our family has been coming to this restaurant for decades. It took 2.5 hrs to get our food. The food didn’t taste anything like it did previous times. The crabmeat tasted like imitation. During peak COVID times, our waitress had her mask below her nose where you could see her mouth. The waiter at the table behind us had his mask under his chin. I spoke with the manager about our waitress’ mask not being worn properly, however, his was below his chin, as well. I told him he needed to wear his properly too, but when I returned to my table and looked back at him, his mask remained below his chin. I will not be returning.

I wish the option was zero stars. Horrible experience; fine dining in a cowboy bar (billed as Orleans-jazz not), fixed menu but 3 hours later still no substantial food. Ran out of fixed foods so served without (no apology or offer of something else) and when asked brought canned alternative. I was so tired by midnight I gave up on ever receiving dessert although I'd never had the advertised dish and was really looking forward to it. So crowded that one could barely move at all & not a mask in sight from staff and customers alike. Complaint to management and no apology or offer to 'make right' anything. WAY overbooked, fatigued food, hours and hours of waiting. Just a total disaster and an uncaring management. Not only a poor excuse for fine dining , but a poor excuse for a restaurant. NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!

We have enjoyed Ernest's on two other occasions when visiting Shreveport and absolutely loved it! We visited last night and we were so disappointed. We ordered drinks and the New York Strip with an extra plate, as we almost always share. Nothing was said about a split charge ($5), which was disappointing, as they brought two plates each with baked potato, onion rings and peach half, so we wasted lots of food. We could have lived with that, but our steak was awful! I got one decent bite and the rest of mine was fat and gristle. My husband could barely cut his part and none of his was edible. We are not usually complainers, but when we nicely said something to our waitress she brought out two little dessert drinks. I hope this was just a bad night for them.

My late wife and I have dined at Ernest since they were on the riverfront. Have not been there in a while. Joined my family for an engagement party there recently. The prices were embarrassingly high. Watching college students trying to order something within their budget was very uncomfortable. My wife and I split the snapper shreve($52) and she had a cup of gumbo ($12). Only drinks were coffee and water. Our bill was$92+. We have had other special occasions here in the past. This one was most embarrassing.

Their marinated crab claws are delicious. Our other food, not so much. This is a pricey restaurant and I don’t mind paying for quality, which we did not receive. Our waiter was under the influence. He never wrote anything down and he didn’t get anything right! I ordered Veal Marsala and I got Veal Picatta. It was tough and not tasty. Their gumbo was full of seafood and had a wonderful presentation but it just didn’t taste good. We have gone to this restaurant for years, even back when they were in a different location in downtown Shreveport. We will not be returning. Sad. It used to be a wonderful restaurant.

We were traveling through Shreveport and looking for dinner after a long day's driving. We called, and were told that if we could make it in 1/2 hr, they could accommodate us. We had no idea that we had come on their "Back to Yesteryear" Thursday. How delightful! The prix fixe menu was delicious. The bread to die for. The service impeccable. The only complaint I had was that the sauce on the steak was too salty!! I expressed that to Patrick, who said, he knew but that it was Earnest's original recipe. I think the chef's hand was a bit heavy. All in all we were very happy with the meal, the service, the ambience, the experience.

We were looking for some authentic New Orleans style Cajun seafood. This place did not disappoint. Once inside, we felt like we were in New Orleans. After looking over the menu, we decided on an appetizer of gumbo and trout almondine for the main course. Gumbo was fantastic. The trout almondine was suggested by our server, Pam, who offered excellent service. The trout was fresh and perfectly cooked, covered with almond slivers and a wonderful sauce. I would definitely eat here again.

We dined at Ernest's Orleans Restaurant on June 11, 2021. It was awful. I ordered the fish special in a champagne sauce with shrimp. I have never had a fish so tough. Had to cut it with a knife. And my husband ordered the trout meuniere. The meuniere sauce looked ok but it was not a meuniere sauce. We both left and wished we had gone to Johnny's Pizza. Waste of money and time. On a positive note the bread was excellent and service was good. Many other restaurants in Shreveport and Bossier City to go to.

Dinner tonight was the total positive dining experience. Everyone from our valet to server was positive, courteous, engaging and helpful. This was our first time but won’t be our last. Our crab claw appetizer and the bread were just the start of a great meal & evening. The cocktails, food and dessert were all very good and there was plenty of it. Over my career I have eaten at places all across our country...this is about the best overall experience I’ve had..

Looked high and low prior to reservations for a dress code. Previous reviews cited flip flops. So we made a reservation for 6pm, wore nice jeans and a golf shirt and was seated past the dining room into a bowling alley. I was waiting for a waitress with Francine written across a bowling pin to wait on us. Music was ghastly. Meanwhile the dining room was empty with the ambiance I remember 25 yrs earlier when I proposed. 25th Anniversary shot. She wouldn't leave. Too hungry.
