So we stopped here one evening just passing thru town. I had read some of the reviews and just thought maybe it couldn't be that bad. The one review that stuck with me the most was the one about the unhappiest waitress ever. Well she still works there and she's not helpful or friendly. I had a cheeseburger and fries.... More

Enjoyed my first visit to this cafe. We called ahead and ordered a special meal for my 91 year old dad whose health requires no salt. They prepared for him a fine plate of baked fish, steamed vegetables, and baked potato. The buffet food was well prepared and the other 4 of us were given excellent attention by our waitress.... Twice I have dined here for the lunch buffet and it has rated a tad under par. There have been no deserts on the bar at 1pm dinning times,🙁 The fried chicken rules and the okra and tomatoes are good, cube beef was tender. Wait staff seems antsy to remove the buffet items and clean up. This restaurant is an... More

When we got displaced after our house flooded on 13 August 2016, we were offered a family home in Opelousas. We went searching for a restaurant & found the Palace Cafe a couple of blocks from the house where we were staying. We love the gumbo, both shrimp & the chicken/sausage. The hamburger steak is great & we also really... More

We love out of the way cafes like this one. The Palace is in a lovely little town and has a great neon sign. It used to put a Greek spin on cajun food. Apparently no longer. When we visited it was uninspired and disappointing. Service was lackluster. Even the gumbo was poor. Perhaps it's changed hands in the last... More

Diners of this type have a hard time staying open in today's world. Items made to order severed by waitresses who have at their craft for years is hardly the way of modern dining. These reasons alone are cause enough to stop in. I have eaten here for decades and have always found the food, particularly the breakfast, spot on.... More

Then the bottom falls out. Was there for breakfast. Service was ok. They had no eggs. Lol but seriously. This place has a good reputation but sometimes change, and this one has and not for the best!

Very nice atmosphere, large varied menu, specializing in Cajun and French Creole meals. Large servings, great table service, friendly staff, reasonable prices for a sit-down casual restaurant. Reservations not required as dining rooms are quite large and comfortable. Overal great food.

Skip the food at this once great cafe. The original owners have sold and the new cooks can't boil water. Well, maybe they can because the coffee is still good. Breakfast was horrible. The grits were inedible. The service was horrible. Ate supper and the liver and onions had can gravy. Are you kidding me? What a ruin to a... More
